Your pick.

What is the game that you'd like to see remade on next gen hardware the most? Why? And how could it be made interesting again, apart from obvious graphical enhancements?

(originality will be awarded, so please, no MGS3 or bloody Halo please :D )

There are probably too many, but I'm going to mention Star Control 2 which absolutely ruled! back in 92-93. One of my all time favourit game.

Here are a few I would love to see remade.

Road Rash a classic game I loved.
The Hoard a little known 3do game that was just damn cool.
act raiser a great SNES game.
WWF no mercy N64 version the best WWE game and best wrestling game released stateside ever.

Remake? Why not a sequel?

I would really, really, really like a sequel to Shadowrun, the SNES version.
If I would have to settle for a remake I would choose the original Xcom/UFO(it was released on Playstation too!). More detailed enviroments, a larget techtree, more cities, larger and more detailed cityscapes, more scenarios, some diplomacy and realtime destruction of everything that I throw grenades at.

Tokyo Wars. Why? It's easily the funnest game I've ever played. Unfortunately, they'd need to go above and beyond Steel Battalion and supply the complete recoiling arcade setup for the full effect.

Elite
Or the sequel was it "Frontier"?, but without the bugs.

A massive scale space trading/space opera where you can travel between planets, fight pirates or be a pirate, land on planets where there are cities, forests, wastelands... On planets it would be like GTA:SA only set in scifi-fantasy lands.
And all this in massively multiplayer too!

Ok, it wouldn't be the Elite as we knew anymore, but that's the game I've waited since the original Elite on C64.

Or then just a new Final Fantasy mmorpg

Sounds like you just described Elite 4 ( minus the massively multiplayer ) :D

Metal Gear - With Gray Fox as the first playable character for intro (similar to Snake in MGS2 before Raiden)
Metal Gear 2 - (not Snake's Revenge) The setting would be similar to Snake Eater. A mix of jungle and indoor.

That's all I could think of for now.

- Z

-Bubble Bobble 2.5D/3D platform game remake (with online / multi player option)
-Paradroid 3D (with online / multi player option)
-Ikaruga HD (4 player simultaneous mode)
-Star Glider 2 remake
-Elite remake
-Virus/Zarch remake

Deus Ex
System Shock 2
X-COM: Terror from the deep
Elite: First encounters
Carrier Command
Tempest 2000
Bioforge
Flashback
Fade to black

Black Dragon
Out Run
Stunt car racer

Well, i for one would LOVE to see the first Sonic remade. In 2D, with either VERY high-res sprites, or 3D models that look 2D-ish. Either way, the gameplay must be 2D.

In no particular order:

Shadowrun (Genesis) - Show off Seattle, the Megacorps buildings, and Cyberspace.
Quake II
Duke3D
Diablo II
Shogo
Alien Vs. Predator (1&2)
UT
Unreal
Golden Axe
Streets of Rage

COntra and super c . I want it all redone in 2d though same side scroller feel. Just with the power of the new systems

Metal Gear - With Gray Fox as the first playable character for intro (similar to Snake in MGS2 before Raiden)
you sir are a genius. i wouldn't mind snakes revenge redone so it was a propper metal gear game, either. i might be alone on this but i actualy enjoyed snakes revenge back in the day, dispite the fact it felt like a low budget metal gear clone.

i wouldn't mind some of the great saturn games remade on newer hardware (current or next gen, or especialy for either the DS or PSP). panzer dragoon saga, burning rangers, shining force III, or nights.

a new jumping flash game would be fantastic as well.

There was a Chrono Trigger project made by fans that looked pretty nice but they got the cease and desist letter so I guess it is a possibility that they might remake it.
