New downloadable content for the Xbox 360 exclusive “Gears of War" is on the way and what better way to celebrate the New Year than to meet friends new and old online and greet them with the sounds of a chainsaw? Sponsored by the Discovery Channel, the complimentary new content will be available for download via Xbox Live Marketplace early Thursday morning, January 11.

Edit: Forgot to mention, GOW has sold 2.7m units in just 8 weeks. Robbie Bach called it another Halo-esque franchise for the 360 with more to come.

Doubt it would be only for one man/woman. Those points would be enough to buy every freaking thing in the Xbox360 marketplace there is at the moment and will be coming out.

These maps, I toyed with them tonight, they look unbelievable.

Seriously, it's almost breathtaking how good this game looks. Maybe it's because I turned the colors up to vibrant a while back or something, I dont know. Moving out with a trio of trenchcoat wearing locust buddies in multi-player, simply stunning. Like you are playing a painting, or the Matrix movie.

The game simply looks absurdly good.

It's a game where it's almost difficult to tell target renders or concept art from the real-time. A game that almost makes one wonder how we get any better graphics from here.

hehe yeah i noticed that.

the actual game looks way better than those shots though. i dont know about the tree specifically, but overall. people have complained the bloom is too much on raven down too.

i'll probably take some pics of my lcd on these levels for the hell of it soon.

i like just stopping for a moment and gazing at the towering statues in gears. if the game does one thing great, it's gothic statues.

Yeah that is the weakest part of the games graphics in my opinion. They should take a page from COD3 in the looks of trees, grass, and such.

Frame rate is 30 locked.

Framerate is absolutely fine. Not a single review I've read had a complaint about the framerate. Neg rep for that statement is not called for though, it's just your opinion after all.

Reviews or not, it drops frames, and it's not some kind of rare event.
