Forum software upgrade - info and problems thread

Hi all,

I upgraded the forum software this morning to the latest version of vBulletin. We were lagging behind a bit, and it was long overdue. The new software gives us a bunch of new tools and features to help run the forum from a behind-the-scenes perspective (more spam-fighting tools you'll be glad to know), and there are a few new things on your side to look out for when you interact with it.

We've soak tested the upgrade a few times now to make sure everything is fine, before doing it for real on this box, but there's a chance that something is not quite right, or there are quirks and little annoyances that you don't like.

This thread is for posting those, so I can clean them up as you see them. We'll also post a mini guide to the new software at some point soon, so you can use it to your advantage. In general, however, things should be very much business as usual. Nothing's changed dramatically, so there shouldn't be many shocks or surprises.

Enjoy :D I'll be keeping an eye on things over the weekend, so hopefully come Monday morning any problems are mostly gone.

Cheers!

Good work. So far so good -- no issues.

Nothing major, but under user cp->edit options->private messaging there seems to be one more check box than needed (or at the very least it's in a weird place).

I've noticed in Firefox 3.0.8 under XP that the pull down menus, eg "QuickLinks" aren't correctly displaying all the menu items.

Some are too narrow to display the text.

"..and there was much rejoicing"

[EDIT] Just noticed that the software seems to think that several very old private messages are now "new/unread" <shrug>

Looks like there's a bit of template tweaking to do, will get Ratch to give me a hand this week.

Same as Simon, everything old is new again for me (some PMs from at least '05).

I got back to '03 I think. Just had to open each, refresh, and repeat until none remained.
Couldn't you just have marked them and selected "mark as read" in the drop-down list and then clicked go?

Strangely, they're not listed as new when I check my PM Inbox, and doing that (selecting all msgs and marking them as read) doesn't remove them from the UserCP front page. Only reading them individually seems to clear them from the unread queueueueue.

Tabs are there if you reload the style, but now the fonts have changed. It looks weird.
