Final Fantasy XV [XO, PS4, PC]

freedom wars was like that and people complained about it. jumping is more "fun" ?

Ideally the more complete the move set/list is the better but what would we use jump for?
Combat?
Exploration?
In the E3 2013 aerial combos where performed using teleport and platfromign sections as well were handled with fixed teleport spots.

In that game, people want jump to simply having easier time traversing environment without using 'thorn' ability that act similar with noctis teleport.

There's also skyrim that jumping is not too useful but liberating.

Btw in ff lightning returns the jump mechanism is not too good. Too low, so you need to be very precise in platforming.

In versus you could jump...but i guess they took that out in 15. Apparently its not even actual action hack and slash RPG anymore like KH, more like action strategy like Type 0. Huh.

Well atleast there's KH3 for my action fix

Ok there's only one way to settle this: a poll. :runaway:
With is better teleportation or jumping?

On a serious note I think that jumping/vaulting/climbing could be done contextually.

hottest FF15 discussion : Jumping :D

Btw any info about the online aspect? In ff13 is rather bad. I prefer dragon's dogma...

I never heard of any online component for FFXV.
I don't even think that an online component would add much to the experience...maybe though chocobo online races could work ;)
Square revealed too little about FFXV anyway which is why IMO we MUST concentrate on how cool/"good" warp/teleport is

I hope they keep the jap voices, otherwise no buy for tuna.

It will be great if they make it dual voice. Japanese, English. Sometime my Japanese is so bad so I prefer English. But sometime I can understand what they are talking in Japanese. Usually depends on the scene. Loud scenes are bad for me.

Yup, thread title needs adjustment :)

Square Enix really served it to Sony. Wait an entire gen for an exclusive game, deliver nothing but trailers then announce it multiplatform! I hope for Sony's sake they worked out some deal.

So, 2015? Any betters?

Isn't the director said that the team is targeting 2015 but he is unsure?

Lol I was thinking of a jump button not specifically for combat but in general. Like acessing areas while you travel in the worldmap. During combat I meant using the jump button to perform attack from above or maybe if they include some kind of launch attack doing aerial combos ? I know it's not KH but I hardly had trouble with games not featuring jump button like Heavenly Sword lol. Especially with kind of hack n slash games. Well maybe FFXV doesn't need any, just like STar Ocean Doesn't have any.

Here in this old footage we could still see some " jump sequences"

On another note I wonder how the summons will look like, I liked Leviathan in the 2013 trailer but I do hope they will stick to fantasy/medieval type of summons in terms of look like going back to Bahamut design in FFVII FFXVIII and FIX....Bahamut was horrible in Advent Children and FFXV IMO. Didn't like the design at all.

I believe limit breaks will be replaced by the " tag combos " moves of the team. I also hope they have kept the instant teleportation ( while walking only , with Noctis not necesarily having to throw his sword where he wants to teleport ).

I miss the 2013 crystal sword crystal shielding

I have hope in FFXV but with the latest interviews with Tabata I hope it's not a semi clodes open world game with " one continent " to travel to...And is nit a hidden FFXIII with false corridors...When he said there were not going to have side quests and that you ll have to go from point A to B so that you follow the story...I was kinda skeptic. But I can't wait to see more !

oh and Give me a Gold Saucer !

here's an article talking about the " only male " cast of FFXV

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...xv-director-says-gender-bias-isnt-healthy.htm

It's been eight years since Final Fantasy XV was first announced. In that time, the game has somehow managed to remain true to the original idea for the project: a group of young men going on a journey. While little is known about the game's plot other than a war erupting between two rival states, the core identity of Final Fantasy XV has remained the same.

However, the idea of four playable main male characters hasn't sat well with everyone on the team, as director Hajime Tabata has said that "bias against genders is not healthy." He also explained why the all-male cast is in the game:

"The party members being all men was something that Tetsuya Nomura had kept as a very important element of this journey. He wanted to depict a story in which a group of men, a group of friends, journey throughout the world. So that's something that I kept in Final Fantasy XV."

Tetsuya Nomura, long-time Final Fantasy artist and former director of the project, recently left the team to focus on finishing Kingdom Hearts III. With Tabata handling the project through launch, it seems that Final Fantasy XV will keep Nomura's vision intact, but not without some criticism from the team itself.

Throughout its history, the Final Fantasy series has been one of the pioneers for strong female characters in gaming. Final Fantasy X-2 was the first game in the franchise to feature an all-female team of playable characters, and was the last time in the Final Fantasy series that a game featured a singularly-gendered cast.

Final Fantasy XV was originally Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a project that was designed alongside the original Final Fantasy XIII as part of the Fabula Nova Crystalis compilation. During development, it was decided that Versus XIII would shift to next-generation consoles, and after numerous delays, the project was rebranded as Final Fantasy XV.

The game was extremely well-received upon its re-reveal at E3 2013, but quickly dropped from the spotlight for nearly a year and a half. At the Tokyo Game Show 2014, the game would re-emerge again with a new trailer and in-game demonstrations. A playable demo would also be announced, as part of the Final Fantasy Type 0 HD release.

The latest Final Fantasy game has certainly had its share of hurdles, and internal struggles over character gender could definitely hinder things. As of now, it seems that the team is fine with an all-male cast, though a return to series tradition (playable female characters) is looking more and more plausible all the time.

Final Fantasy XV has no specific release date, though Tabata claimed the game was "55% done" at the Tokyo Game Show.

And Nomura confirming that his departure from FFXV was not a personnal decision so that he could work on KHIII but was due to higher ups decision...

http://www.rpgsite.net/news/3900-nomura-removal-from-final-fantasy-xv-a-square-decision

Nomura has now confirmed his departure was a company move, not one he made himself. But not much else in speaking with Famitsu.

"It was the company’s decision, I can’t say anything more than that," he said, as translated by Nova Crystallis
.

Hope he ll still have credits on the project once it has shipped and that Tabata won't steal all the glory....
Also i' m pretty pissed if he was pushed away, even though maybe tabata came to help a bit.
Wonder If anytime Nomura will still remain at Square Enix ? Do you guys think there's a probability that he may leave Square Enix after KH III ?
I wouldn't wish him that but maybe he could make his own team, own studio or enlighten his talent anywhere else ?

Also there should be a new presentation or demo of FF type zero & FFXv on the 2nd of October.

Here's some new screens from FFXV

The goth boyband cast has done a number on my interest, combine that with Tabata's gameplay comments and I've lost 99% of my interest in the title.
My focus has completely shifted over to Persona 5, Xenoblade: Ecks and to a lesser extent Tales of Zestiria and Zelda Wii-U.

I think I can fit one Japanese Goth boyband in between all my ruggedly handsome brown haired Caucasian identikit dudes.
I'm glad those are the only options.

I have no issue with any of the male cast(apart from the overuse of black); My issue is that out of the several prominent female characters, NONE of them will become full time party members.

The excuses given as to why this game will be a blokes only affair are absolutely rubbish; It's almost like Square think the reason the FF13 games were disliked is because of the female protagonist.

Its not rubbish. You cant accept that there are no playable females in contrast to all other final fantasy games. Any reasoning no matter how valid, will sound like rubbish if you dont like the idea.
There is no rule that prohibits a game from starring only male playable characters. If that fits the concept its perfectly ok. If it will work or not is up to the developer's talent and skill because what matters is the execution.
I think the idea is quite refreshing. We already got Final Fantasy games starring only females, a mixture and games where women had a dominant role. The idea of a group of close friends experiencing their "hardships" together brings a new perspective into the relationship build up that we didnt have much before but many blokes can identify with.
When you put females there, the group relationship changes and add a tone of sexual attraction or love in it, which is something we got too often. Men and females act differently when there is the opposite sex involved in a group but now we ve got friends that can act a lot differently and more freely since the presence of women is absent. It brings new opportunities in the way the characters depict their personalities

I hope we will get screen feeling magic attacks and spells...I wonder what next gen compute particles will allow them to do...can't wait to see this!

The news we were all waiting for:
"there is an independent jump button" in FFXV
:yep2:
Also nice to know that dodge/avoid isn't unlimited, that was my biggest concern on the combat system.
Source.

Why are we calling the characters goths?

They seemed more like Triad/Yakuza/mafia types to me. Like an updated version of the Turks in FFVII. Hence, why my interest is actually somewhat peaked by this game. I'm hoping for more of FFVII and less of FFXIII (read: shittiness).

Taking a wait and see aproach on this beast though. Since I place no trust whatsoever in SqEnix
