Final Fantasy XV [XO, PS4, PC]

Those sorts of statements are always relative. In this case, SE has had some recent games (including the demo) that struggle to hold 30, so aiming for a steadier 30 and not trying to boost res would absolutely constitute a focus on framerate.

60 should have been the target, IMO. As this is an action RPG and not a more traditional turn based or semi-turn based RPG where framerate is less relevant to gameplay. Heck it's more 3rd person hack and slash than RPG. Thus it would benefit greatly from 60 fps.

In the ATB Tabata says that they could achieve more stable frame-rate by, I quote, " reducing the number of of enemies on screen, or limiting AI behavior...reduce the number of of processes" but that would mean to reduce the quality of the experience and that's not what they want.

If FFXV was a "mere" hack&slash I am sure they would ahve gone for 60fps but FFXV it is not a H&S.

I hope the final build is 1080p/30 on the PS4 at least since The Witcher 3 with tons more foliage and bigger game world already is.

the scale also different. FFXV need to accomodates crazy fx in fast-paced action and various camera zoom for the summon.

it also have 3 companions with high detail. Although the NPCs are dissapointing (only important character got proper touch).

As a hack&slash it's quite slow, 60fps wouldn't make much of a difference. It there was some shooting involved or really high speed movement then I agree it would make more sense to target 60fps.

We don't even know how big FFXV world/map is and FFXV will have dynamic weather as well anyway.

BTW having so many trees on screen might not be as expensive as people think and that's why the Witcher 3 vegetation is so lush.
It's more expensive to have 10 NPC on screen than 10 trees.

The entire Duscae region [demo does not cover it all] is supposedly 1/10 of the game landmass, and the engine supports full TOD/weather changes. Demo did not have rain effects.

There may not be much shooting, but there is certainly a lot of dodging involved. The timing of which can be relatively short at times from some of the let's plays I've seen. Just like 60 FPS made Dark Souls 1 and 2 significantly better (well other than the fact that weapon degredation ticks are tied to framerate), despite the slower pace of combat compared to most hack and slash games, 60 FPS would make FFXIV significantly better.

As such I have absolutely zero interest in the game on either console, but if it comes to PC I may check it out.

It certainly is a hack and slash action/RPG game. That's what it has been ever since it was first introduced as the Action Final Fantasy game when it was Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Don't worry. You can rest assured that Square will re-release the game at 60fps on PS5, then re-re-release it, still on PS5, with a new 'remixed' soundtrack and maybe somewhat indistinguishably higher resolution textures.

In a few years they will of course re-re-re-release it on PS6 in 4k/60fps. With a demo of FFXVI, and everyone will buy it just for that.

I didn't see any improvement in Dark Souls being 60fps and in fact I prefer to play it at 30fps. That's right, come at me :devilish:

So how many km2 is The Witcher 3 map and how many is FFXV map?
Map size anyway it's not really a decisive comparison metric.
The quality of the simulation, the content, matter more than size alone.

Which is why I say it's not just an H&S.
DMC, God of War and all hack & slash in general are linear games focussed on combat with no crowd simulation, no dynamic weather or day cycle, no animals or countless of enemies/NPC/cars/AI entities to keep on screen.
SquareEnix no doubt can achieve 60fps in FFXV but that would mean less of everything and they said that's a price they are not willing to pay.

It's scary how realistic this actually sounds, I've no doubt something like this would happen should the final version fall short of Full HD.

New active time report with some new infos and the confirmation that Stella is no more in FFXV

There are three primary changes from Versus XIII to FFXV :

_The removal of Stella character from VersusXIII which didn't fit in the story changes of FFXV. And the new introduction of a new heroine named Luna who has a different role within the story.

_second part is with the crown city of Insomnia : shown in the opening of VersusXIII. ( first real-time sequence at the time where Noctis and Stella meet ) This scene has been removed from FFXV as well and that it was replaced with another sequence and event.

_ Last point is concerning the deletion of the scene of the party in the city of Insomnia. Some player would probably have been worried of not having a proper gameplay experience in the city of Insomnia but the team is looking to able the player to have some gameplay sequence in the shinjuku-like city ( insomnia )

Other informations :

_The dark hair woman and the dragoon-like armored woman from the latest trailer ( dragoon woman from last versus trailer ) are still in the game with their roles said as being important.
_The game will be shown and promoted during Gamescom.
_the' ve completed the Luminous Engine to version 2.0 ( you can see on the video at 48:16 )

Patch for Duscae 2.0 will be released June 9th 2015 8:00
Edit :1080p trailer

Nope, it's just an update to the current Duscae demo. only those who have pre ordered or found a mean to get the demo will be able to play with version 2.0 update.
But as I understand it is not avaiable to download anymore, it was but just the two months FFtype zero released. Now if you get a code you can no longer DL the demo.
Maybe you can back up the demo game file if you plan to swap the HDD.

I still have it but has not tested it after HDD upgrade.

Btw tabata-san said there will be other demo that available for public right? Or my memory is playing tricks at me

Bit worried about the story changes. Nomura seems to have a better record for good stories than Tabata....

Yup, as long as you don't delete it you can still play it. If you delete it you can't redowload it.

Yes he said that if would try to talk to the higher ups at square to make a free demo based on the TGS presentation they made ( kind of the closed arena with the behemot fight and noctis and all his abilities available )
But he said he wouls discuss about it but it was not up to him to make it vailable though. Like the Japanese voices that are available in Duscae demo, he said that he would make an effort to put them in the final game as well but that was not sure.
