Whoah! They made more!

I'd only seen the first part. Amazing stuff. It really wakes the ol' memory neurons to life. Vega.. Not even seen that character for ten years I think.

Five-star stuff that was.
Cheesy. But cheesy in the right way.

Peace.

Feeling sentimental tonight.

Miss you, Sam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swQVFy5HHac
Miss you, Andy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8Xdh2DyXWI (alas, not the SNL version I saw live)
Janis, bay-be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IaBFq5FAfY

And just because there is a 99% correlation with the above: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQrNWZ4Y5tU

Zero correlation with the above. . .but I miss this Sam too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-5bkCkQ3V0

And if I'm going to miss that Sammy, then I have to miss Greg too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNsCs03fBiQ

Is it dead entertainer night?

(P.S. I liked One Toke over the line, but the rest was...meh. I enjoy the Joplin song also, but not that performance. )

There's another performance? Or do you mean by someone other than Janis? It's a capella because she died three days after this recording. . .

I'm not a fetishist for original performances. This is much better than the original, for instance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDU2fEqUVaY
No, I was thinking hers, though apparently there were only two recordings, so maybe I'm papering over the rough performance with fond memories.

I think they have that urge to imitate western civilization.
Well, they do. They are quite enamored with US culture in particular. But they also have woven this into their own traditional culture, a culture which is exceedingly different from US culture. And the combination is, well, very, very strange. I love many of its products, though, particularly anime :)
