fat32 to ntfs

My 40gb hd is fat32. I want to convert it to ntfs because of the 4gb filesize limit.

Opinions are very welcome.

If you do a conversion using the MS converter (called "convert"), you can find you get half-k blocks instead of 4k blocks (it's to do with whether the converter can start on a 4k aligned block or not). In this case you might be better using a complete format and reinstall unless you have no choice but to use the converter util (for instance if you don't have any backup device).
