I kinda agree, though I don't think the filly is ridden fully into the ground until after - and if! - Nvidia responds. IMO.

Well, Creative just released a card ("Creative Graphics Blaster Picture Perfect") based on the 3Dlabs VP500SE chip (hey, the "SE" part is new! I think!)... they have some pretty amusing statements in the press release. Not much about 3D though

Additionally, there is no assurance the more informed opinion is representative of the truth. For example, nvidia undoubtedly has the most informed opinion regarding this topic but it may or may not represent the truth.

While you have a dictionary handy, I suggest you look up the words "likely" and "generally". Neither are absolute terms.
