Consider it will have been 4 years between major revs by the time it shows up. How long to the one after that? Altho that hides a bit the fact that there were two different shader models involved, so arguably it was two 2-year cycles.
Otoh, the hardware will keep getting faster and with more high-speed memory available to it. . .incrementally, some functionality and techniques that weren't practical from a performance pov will start to come in range. How will those be addressed?
