The Xbox version of "Doom 3," the long-awaited PC video game recently released to wide acclaim, is not likely to be released in 2004 dealing a blow to enthusiastic game players who are anxiously awaiting it.

Isn't Halo2 coming for holidays?
If so, they must've just prioritized the release schedules of important games. Coming at the same time as Halo2 would certainly hurt the D3 sales.

On the other hand, if they release in 2005, Doom 3 will have lost the initial hype that can carry the sales of even mediocre and poor games to surprising heights.

For best sales, they should've released simultaneously with the PC version.

In my understanding (and playing experience) of Doom 3,

Doom 3 = (tech demo for high-end videocards) + (old school brainless FPS nostalgia for PC gamers)

What's the point of playing it on Xbox? Maybe it can have mod and wad via Xbox Live, but without those shadows and effects Doom 3 is a pretty boring game for a console, thus needs console-exclusive additional contents badly.

Many people can't afford to buy a brand new PC to play the game, if VV do a valid version, everybody wins.

Besides co-op, 5.1 and a huge HDTV in the comfort of my living room are pretty good reasons for me to play the Xbox version. Regardless, there's no point in bringing this out at the same time as Halo 2 and so close to Fable.
