Does have NV30 now 4x RGMSAA?

AA on NV30 ? do these look like antialiased images ? Nah... unparalleled intellisampleTM my ass

Well, in the extremetech.com article, Kirk stated that the sampling pattern were not rectangular:
Tamasi and Kirk would only say that the sample positions and patterns have changed, and that they are non-rectangular.

Lol @ aths und nggalai

Was haltet ihr von deutsch? :=)

*just kidding* hihi

will be interesting to see what kind of sampling pattern they are going to use.
"changed sampling patterns" does not sound like OG MSAA

The documentation made note of an 8X FSAA mode, how is this achieved and is it it Multi-sampling?

The 6XS and 8X modes are a combination of Super-Sampling and Multi-sampling.

On GeForce4 there was a total of 4 Z units per pipeline, which enabled you to output 4 MSAA samples per pipe per clock, is this still the same for GeForce FX?

Yes it is.

Are they still the sort of ordered grid sampling schemes that we've seen on GeForce4 or does GeForce FX have any jittered / programmable grids?

The 6XS is a skewed grid, the 8X mode is an ordered grid.

btw, where's that "...Better pixels instead of more pixels..." now? ;)

IMO, since that interview, nVidia has totally turned the ship around. NV30 seems pretty cleary to be more pixels than better pixels. :)

The pixelshaders also has a lot to do with the quality of the pixels don't they ?

And the NV30 doesn't seem to be lacking in that area.

Edit: not implying that it lacks in the FSAA area because i think we need a little but more info about that before passing judgement.

Hmm... yeah, it IS odd that those tech demos aren't anti-aliased. WTF. o_O

Especially given that the GeForceFX has "performance hit free" antialiasing that can be "essentially always" used at "all resolutions".

Oh, I get it - nVidia is purposely leaving jaggies in, because otherwise people will mistake their tech demos for prerendered cinematics and refuse to believe that it can be rendered in real time. That's it - once the NV30 becomes more than vaporware, then they can release the final version tech demos with performance hit free antialiasing.
