Hmmm :?

It looks like two barbie dolls are fighting. They need some more details to make them look more human.

Team Ninja is not known for their skin modeling/rendering... I personally dont even really like their lighting techniques... thus the Barbie doll syndrome *shrug*

Not too excited by DOA4. Just not my cup of tea. I'm more of a Virtua Fighter man.

Leak some screens of a game that I'll play 8 hours straight and won't want to stop playing because it's so addictive on X-Box LIVE. Leak some Ghost Recon 3 damit!

There's a graphical theme to all of these next gen Xbox titles: lots of depth of field blur. Finally we see what 3dfx T-buffer was supposedly about! :D

And thinking about this vs. PS3 graphics, unless Cell kicks major butt and NVIDIA pulls some magic out of the air, there's just not going to be that much difference.

the first shot they look out of place like they were pasted onto the backround . Anyone think that those models weren't finished or something ?

It looks as though the the clothes on certain characters are "flowing" realisticly. It will probably more impressive in motion, although the detail in some of the shots is quite high in others it looks more bland.

Some of the screens are better than others. I noticed how the hair seems to be in "groups" so I assume they will individually animate. I also wonder if some of the loose fitting clothing on the guys (mainly the baggy pants on the ankle area) will animate.

The screens look good for a next gen title. If it has that level of AA, is really smooth, and animates well I would call it a good first gen offering graphically. Have to wonder how it plays though...

I've been telling lots of people to keep realistic expectations for the next-gen. Not because of the hardware but because of vg budgets.

Still, I have to say I'm hugely disappointed with these visuals if they are indeed from the Xbox 2 version. Shadows are crap, textures aren't that hi-res, lots of vertex lighting... the character models are obviously higher poly and seem to have some fancy cloth physics going on but overall it really doesn't look much better than the Xbox 1 games.

Seriously, is it me or am I the only one who is getting an underwhelming feeling about this being next gen? :?

Need some DOA3 shots in this thread for comparison...at this moment, they don't look that much better... :?

New complex HW designs, tight launch timelines, new development tools (versus really optimized tools and proceedures to trick the most out of last gen HW).

Also the paradigm seems to have shifted from programmers to designers. Good artists do not just grow on trees. Studios need more programmers to make the engines and code the games, but they also need more artists to live up to the expectations of gamers. Models are more detailed--which is more work--but we now also want MORE models and variety, all interactive.

I think this explains why a lot of First Person perspective games that are cross platforming with the PC are taking a look at UE3. It cuts down a lot of work and allows the artists to do more. For all of us gamers, lets home MS/Sony/Nintendo have really provided developers with good tools to make their jobs easier.
