Disc Stuck Inside PS3 !

Hey there, guys !
I put in a DVD of "Casino Royale" to watch on my ps3, it went in fine, but then a blue LED (next to the green one which lights up when the ps3 in on) started blinking. It kept blinking and I checked on the XMB but the disc didn't show up under the video category. So, I touched on the eject button to eject it out, but it won't eject.

The blue LED kept blinking for quite some time anmd I tried to force eject it by pressing the eject button for 10 seconds but it just won't budge. It still doesn't show in the video category.

The blue LED stopped blinking after sometime but the disc doesn't eject. I have tried restarting the system and trying to force eject, but it doesn't work.

Anybody faced this problem? Is there any other way to eject it?

What was the meaning of the Blue LED blinking?

Please Help!

PS:I have played that DVD before on my PS3 , it worked fine earlier.

Ouch ! Was there something in the drive before you inserted "Casino Royale" ?

I think the blue LED will blink every time it eject a disc. Usually if it notices something bad, the PS3 will beep.

I think he meant to say that he played the Casino Royale before, not that he had something in it before.

I removed R&C to insert Casino Royale. But now its just stuck inside and doesn't show in the XMB either so, I can't try to eject it from the menu either.

How long does it take to force eject a disc. I pressed the eject button for 15 secs or so, but nothing happened.

I called up Sony, they have asked me to bring it to a service centre (obviously  ) . The guy on the phone could not help me with any tips.

@patsu: There were no beeps or anything just the blue LED blinking for about 10 mins, then it stopped.

Yikes....lemme ask - are you one of those that pulls the disc out when it's still ejecting? If so - don't do that!

I haven't looked - but doesn't the PS3 have a manual pin-eject like every other disc drive on the planet? Maybe we can try that.

Can't see any on the front (or side) of my PS3 sat beside my monitor here. And I don't put any faith in those anyway. My PC's DVD drive won't open, and pressing a pin into the hole, it seems there's absolutely nothing but case behind it! Certainly no eject mechanism or way to pop open the tray. I think RenegadeRocks' PS3 is sadly snafu and requires professional attention.

Well, guys, I managed to eject the disc.....I reset the ps3 by pressing the power button for more than 10 secs or so and it started with all the settings reset. Then I kept the eject button pressed for about 1 and 1/2 minutes and then the disc came out.......but now the real problem has reared its head.

Now, if I put any disc in it, it is not able to read it and it gets stuck inside it just like the Casino Royale disc :( . Looks like the drive has malfunctioned or something. It can't detect/read any disc I put in it, j the blue LED starts blinking for some time then I have to reset it again and force eject it. Right now my Ratchet Blu-ray is stuck in it and won't come out :(

Look like either the loading mechanism or the lens is gone. I think the lens is gone as it loads the disc in fine, but after that it just can't read it and I keep getting the "working" symbol on top right , the translucent circle which pops up when we load a site or when a disc is being read. PS3 keeps trying to read the disc for almost 15 mins or so and then I have to reset the system and force eject it.
R&C:TOD is not coming out even with force eject though :???:

PS: and no, I don't pull out the disc when it is being ejected. I have worked hard to buy myself a ps3 and take the utmost care of it.

The optical drive on my PS3 failed this summer too. :( Discs wouldn't show up in the XMB but the little throbber in the corner came up like it is trying to do something. However, unlike yours mine would happily eject the discs, so I'm not sure what is going on there. I had to send it off to Sony to get fixed. On the other hand I got it back only 10 days after sending it in.

Well, its comforting to see that the problem is a known problem, hopefully, I'll get mine back soon too. I'll be taking it to Sony day after tomorrow, lets see what they have to say about it!

EDIT: BTW guys, any tips on backing up my saves and accounts are most welcome ! I have never done it before :( !

Well, deposited my ps3 in the local Sony Service Centre. They say that if the fault is repairable like cleaning the lens or something then they will repair it or otherwise it will be replaced. Let's see what happens ! they will call in a day or two.

Heh Heh !;) I would rather let them repair it! anyways the console is with them now. lol
The funny thing is first my 4850 died and now my ps3 ! Something is wrong with me or what ? ;) BTW, my 4850 will arrive back in one or two days.

I wonder if having them plugged to a shady outlet or powerstrip could affect them adversly.
