Disappearing acts committed by my iPod

Sometimes when placing a group of songs, especially after ripping them directly from a cd, onto my iPod via iTunes, they appear to go through the motion of actually uploading, then to my dismay as I take a gander at my list of artists, it doesn't show up. This is the second time this has happened to me, once being this morning. I've checked virtually EVERYTHING in my iPod and am certain the cd isn't there. Why does this happen?

Seems like a bug in iTunes 7. Copy it to your library first and then to your iPod.
