Dell buys Alienware

Dell purchases Alienware,

Looks like a good time to get AMD . If Dell decides to keep Alieware's lower end systems, AMD should now have good distribution channels to compete with Intel!

damn and i had high hopes for the lil company that started out of my hometown. dell swallowed them up. *sigh*

Well doesn't look like Dell has absolute control over Alienware, seems like Alienware's mangament will stay and they will call the shots, which is somewhat good. But again this can change in a moments notice

I heard that song and dance when my company got bought.

2 months later, The CEO and 2 engineering groups were gone.

I think of company acquisitions kind of like dating. You put all your positives forth at first....and ease all the dirt in along the way.

Alienware sells both AMD and Intel, and I imagine they will continue to do so.

true but that will create interal competition with Dell's xps's

It is still an overall win for Dell though who has historically been a company concerned with both short-term and long-term profitability.
