I thought this was quite old news. If I remember correctly people were speculating that Crytec would only develop for PS3 and xbox since they did not announce for an xbox360 developer...

Hey guys, do you think that next gen consoles would be able to handle Crysis?

Just hearing the rumours of the huge pc requeriments that crysis is going to have, makes me really wonder if a port would be possible without a major downgrade.

The specs were just made up by a Crysis fan. Though after seeing the gfxs I'd say that the requirement won't be low.
Anyway, I imagine that the main problem of the the ports are going to be the DX10 parts of Crysis and the lack of RAM in the consoles.

Ram in the consoles wont be a problem if your coding is tight. Plus I can see the PS3 pulling out better performance just because of cell.

They said it would run fine with a single core and a DX9 card, the CPUs of the console should also be able to compesate for the very few DX10 fxs of Crysis so the problem may be memory, but we saw some incredible things in the past.

It's being developed for Xbox 360 and PS3. Obviously they didn't need new programmers to port it tothe 360 architecture though.

yes but elsewhere on their site they also advertised for programmers for 360 version.

too lazy to look it up (again) as this is so old it's crusty.

Actually there is a listing for a programmer with 360 dev experience below the listing for the PS3 dev. On the jobs page.

I do not doubt it at all that they develop for the 360 as well, just said what I remebered from the top of my head...

That could mean whatever. I guess they want a guy full time working on PS3 coding.

That does not mean that they arenot working on the 360. Maybe they already have some guy internaly that is doing it already...

So what are you really trying to say?

Well i guess the PS3 needs special treatment by a "specialist". They said in taht interview (gamestar.de) some month ago that the PS3 will get a proprietary engine and i guess that's why they need special guys for this job...
