Cannot play DVDs anymore...

I cannot play video DVDs anymore. Whenever I try to play one, any media player I use says, there is an error with the digital copyright protection.
However, that problem does also occur with DVDs that ran fine before.
Can someone please help me?

I have changed nothing at all. That happened just out of the blue.
On my laptop it works fine btw and thats WinXP with everything up-to-date, too.

I have one suspicion, though. Could it be the DRM thing from a relatively new Creative audio driver update?
At first, I thought it might be my K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, but that always worked fine in the past...

Isn't the audio streams on DVDs separate (and unencrypted) from the video? Anyway, what does the title bar of the error window say, does it hint at the application that spawned it?

Don't think it could be the audio driver, as that typically plays no part in decoding the dolby digital sound (DVD player software does that by itself before sending the sound as normal streams to the sound driver for playback). Although I guess everything's POSSIBLE... It is windows after all! :D

The title bar of the error windows is from the Windows media player.
The error code is C00D1163: A problem occurred with digital copyright protection
However, with vlc player, it runs just fine. I dont get it.
Still, a solution to my problem would be nice.
