buget GPU for 3D modeling via ocing/modding???

Hey,
I need a maching for 3d graphics and video, what is the best value card right now?
I have read some info on turning a geforce into quadro via software mod.
Can anyone comment on that? My budget is $250.

You dont really need a heavy gpu for 3d modeling (well, that might change depending on what you make). Its alot more about your cpu. I now have a x1600xt and a quadcore e6600 and that runs fine in viewport mode while before this I had a x800xt-pe but with alot slower cpu and that didnt run exactly great.

is a x800xt fatser than a x1600 ?

ps: i beleive the quadro mod was for older cards (4-5 series)

edit : you can turn a 6800gt into a quadro fx4400

No the x1600 isnt faster, thats my point. Atleast 3dsm even in viewport mode seems to rely more on your cpu than on your gpu so it seems any half decent gpu will do if you put a nice cpu alongside it.
