I picked up a copy of ESPN NFL 2K4 today, specifically because it (supposedly) had 720p output (just like the back of the box says, and like more than one reviewer said).
Guess what? They couldn't get 720p to work for some reason and it only supports 480p widescreen. Wish I would have seen the threads on this problem before I put down $50 at Best Buy...
Best Buy won't take it back because the game isn't "broken". Reckless false advertising at the expense of the consumer. I understand that not everybody plays on an HDTV set, but damnit, if you advertise that the game does output 720p, some people are going to pick that title over a competitor's (Madden 2004) for that reason. Why else would you use it as an advertising point on the back of the box unless you thought it would allow you to sell more copies of the game?
I've already emailed Sega and have not received a response yet. A person on AVSForum said that they saw that the official response will be that they just didn't get 720p working right and already had the box covers printed to say that it was, and that they'll change it for the next print of box covers.
Thanks a lot, guys. What about people like me though?
