Big games for this xmass (current gen)

Oh yeah! Farcry Instincts... wonder how that's going.

Oh and don't forget Painkiller for Xbox, if that's still happening. Nothing new about it since last year..

For PS2:

Dragon Quest 8
Final Fantasy 12
Genji - Game Republic - Yoshiki Okamoto (father of Streetfighter) Sony's answer to Onimusha
24 - TV Tie-in from Sony Cambridge, will they find some gameplay this time ;)
Jak & Rachet Go Karting - More franchise squeezing from Sony
Wanda & Colossus - Genius returns
Kingdom Hearts 2 - Don't underestimate the power of Disney & Squaresoft :D
Okami - More cel-shaded fun from Clover Studios
Tomb Raider 6 - Will Crystal Dynamics & Toby Gard be able to rediscover the Lara magic

Multi Format:

Black - Criterion with EA marketing dollars
Starcraft Ghost - Or has this moved to next gen :?:
King Kong - There maybe no sequel to BG&E, but Michel Ancel gets this hot license instead :D [/b]

DQ8 is still, to my knowledge, a 2006 title. (For no apparent reason, IMHO.) Genji and Okami and Wanda all with no specific release dates (though Wanda just hasn't mentioned it for the US. But since it's to hit Eurpoe end of September, I would assume it would hit the US then, too. That puts it a little early anyway, and it's still likely to not make much of a public splash, considering the fate of its predecessor.)

I had not heard of any Go Karting game (though don't you hate those games when they're based on ages-old licenses? Man, they must suck! :p ;) ), and Tomb Raider...? They're still going to keep at it? Heh. At any rate, also little-heard-from and unlikely-to-be-seen this year. Probably the same with 24.

Black, however... I'd forgotten about that. ^_^ It hasn't shown up commonly on retailer lists yet, though it is aimed for Q4 right now. It'll probably get a good showing at E3.

in 2001, when the GC and Xbox were launched, EA sold 9M copies of Harry potter on ps1.

Do not underestimate the poser of a large userbase.

ps : Mario 128 will only be video at this E3. no way, it is a 2005 game.

That sold millions of copies of the game. Did it sell more units of the PS1? No. Did it seriously increase the sales of the PS2? Not really... the PS2 was increasing at the same general rate, and sold more every following year (even just looking at the US and Europe, where the HP movie and EA's game would have more affect).

The game sold well because of the huge successes of the books, the PS1, and the movie that summer. And yet it had no bearing on the next generation of consoles--which is the actual question being asked here. No one is saying games still aimed at the PS2/Xbox/GC won't sell... but will they interrupt the flow into the next generation? I don't think anything short of a tactical nuke will. ;)
