Battlefield 4

Yay my el cheapo 3 years old laptop still strong enough for bf4.

In... 20fps :(

Fortunately DICE have internal resolution slider. AWESOME.

THANKS DICE for making bf4 really scalable :D

So you can adjust the rendering resolution separately from the output resolution? That is neato. I can think of only a couple of other games that allow that.

Yeah I'm not sure I've ever seen that before. DX11 full color CGA resolution!

Will it go in the other direction for kinda-SSAA downsampling?

yeah, according to the description it will allow SSAA by setting internal resolution over 100%.

like arma 2 right?

I don't understand why more games don't allow doing this, or even why can't NV/AMD add an option on the driver to force a different rendering resolution and than do the proper scaling up or down for the output.

so how does this slider work
is it any aspect correct resolution could i select 1290x726 ?
or does the slider just select standard resolutions like so

I am quite impressed by the Beta. Not performance wise...a lot of lag, framerate on 'auto' setting all over the place.

But the game itself is very very good in my opinion. All those little gameplay details they changed and improved.

The new weighty feel to the soldier movement is something unexpected, felt a bit like Killzone 2...no problem for me to adjust.

You get points during capturing the flag...very smart decision!

Recon has now a mobile laser marker...and C4!!!! I just freaking love this class.

A lot of little animations added, support and health boxes now fit into the scene.

Beta offers normal mode. I typically play only hardcore mode, but it seems to me that BF4 normal mode takes less damage to kill, compared to BF3 normal mode?

The chinese dialect is lol :)

I love the destruction...and taking the elevator :)

Already clear to me, that BF4 will be again best MP game for me...

That sounds awesome. One could not tell the minute changes from videos, if they have really gone in and made it better than BF3, then fantastic, cos i was expecting just another bf3 with new maps.
Will try it out myself in a few days when I get back home.

EDIT: Oh BTW, are there any changes to the radar in bf4?

Why would you want space to be anything but jump? To fulfill the Davros Guide To How A PC Game Should Be?

So I got an email from EA about the beta and decided to check it out. It feels familiar but definitely is morphing slowly toward Call of Duty. Character animations seems strange and don't really match the speed that the avatar moves across the ground. Bullet spread is much tighter than BF3 based on my short play test. It's definitely buggy. My deploy button didn't work half the time and it completely froze up on me once.

Graphics wise it looks good but not noticeably better than BF3. The FOV slider is very welcome though! Didn't notice any destruction either but maybe it's disabled for the beta. There was a fair amount of texture flickering and rendering artifacts. Tried the nVidia beta drivers to see if that helped and it made things far worse. Same artifacts and now ridiculous stuttering and slowdowns too.

The Davros Guide To How A PC Game Should Be? states :
you should be able to bind any key to any action you want

yeah, the radar are more visible than BF3 but still less visible than BFBC2 and still worse than BF2.

its the full-screen map that got much better. Its now semi-transparent.

The ability to choose spawn position by clicking on Map also being brought back from BFBC2 (yay).

BF4
+ super fast loading
+ a lot of graphic option including internal resolution (thanks DICE, thanks a lot)
+ useful spawn screen
+ chat between rounds (was available on BFBC2, deleted on BF3)
+ global voice chat
+ stable lag (cant find the correct word to convey my mind sorry)
+ Audio thread much stable than BF3

- Linear destruction strategy (once a road destructed, every tank that go there will stuck forever until explode, cant get out)
- very little destruction. Less than BF3.
- small bullet deviation
- small fly "extra zone". much smaller than BF3.
- low volume / inconsistent global voice chat
- delay same-ish with BF3.
- feels and looks like BF3 but much heavier than BF3 (i got 10-20fps penalty).

played on el-cheapo 3 years old laptop, i can "spray" bullet in 20fps and kill enemy far away. On BF3 it will only give very small damage if any.

Ps3 got bigger beta than pc? Eurogamer says ps3 have rush and obliteration game mode.

Last time I play on pc, there's only conquest and domination

Unless you count lack of keyboard/mouse control, poor framerate, rough graphics, limited player numbers, lack of 3D support and having to pay to play the game online.... just saying ;p

Except for lower player count (IMO, the game is made for 24-32players) and pay to play (psn is free, uptill now atleast) , yes, all those trade offs for a game that just works. My bf3 pc is now stuck forever, just can't connect to any game anymore. Everyhitn has been triedexcept reformatting my pc, which i am not willing to do :p. I enjoyed it a lot on PC, but even initially it took me full 3 days to get the MP working in the first place, while i played regularly since launch day on the ps3. No hassles.
And Davros can't play his SP at all, ever. On the contrary , on my ps3, the game just works like a charm. Never had any issue at all. We all know BF as a pc franchise, but it isn't anymore. Like I said earlier, evenfor bf4, their blog says that almost all game modes are designed for 20-24 players. They make the game for consoles now and hope it scales well for PC too.
I am not happy with it. Hoping next gen mitigates this issue to an extent by atleast making higher player counts mandatory for the design process.
