Battlefield 2042 [PS, XB, PC]

What happened here is that soldier dissuaded his enemy from firing through sheer force of intimidation. Absolute Chad.

 

This shit is hilarious and pretty much sums up the experience

 

This is like a real BETA but like the guy says, you should do "real" BETA's far more than 1 month before "release."

Also, ladders aren't a solved problem in games. I still hear from multiple devs from multiple dev studios that ladders and elevators are some of the hardest things (time and/or effort) to implement correctly and well every time they start a new project.

I've also been hearing that the lack of an end game scoreboard is so that people that don't perform well ... well, so they don't feel bad ... and they don't get teased by their online friends. Basically, it's "participation syndrome." Winning and losing isn't important. It's that you participated and had fun. Everyone's a winner!

Good news and bad news? Good news, some of the problems appear to be server side problems. Those can likely be fixed before launch. Bad news? A lot of it doesn't look like server side issues.

People act like they've never played a Battlefield game before. This wasn't a real beta. The real beta is on launch day.

Battlefield 4's server browser still doesn't work and shows servers being nearly full when they are completely empty. Battlefield 2 and 3 had those problems also, but not on every patch. They fixed them, and then broke them, and then fixed them....

 

The weird thing is that BFBC and BFBC2 was not as buggy as bf3, bf4 at launch (dunno with bf5 and bf 1, I didn't play the MP on those).

But yeah it seems with bf 2042, dice is continuing the tradition of bugs galore

 

The most irritating problem for me was constant screen flickering it was so distracting I couldn’t play. I was tired after few minutes and make me feel dizzy. I agree that some things may not be super relevant to the state of the game right now but there are so many problems that shows that the game is in very rough state. Very concerned about timeframe and that they will manage to fix everything before relase. At this point I don’t even know if perf optimization fixes are possible as there is so much core functionality that simple dosent work or is absent. Granted I have no idea how game looks now but I am very curious if they manage to fix it before launch. It’s gone be interesting one and I will keep my eye on it but one thing is sure there will no preorder or day 1 buy for me. If what he said about team size is true, that this is the biggest team ever worked on BF game, oh boy one may wonder what went wrong? Is it COVID, unrealistic time frame or what not. Interesting

 

Entirely different lineup of individuals than during the BF1 and prior era. I think this new Dice just isn't particularly good.

barely tried it yesterday night on PS5, will play more today.

I was a little disappointed with the graphics on this map, but maybe because it was still finishing downloading, i thought textures were lacking, but then I waited for the install to finish and launched another game on the icy map, and that was a lot lot better.
Will also try the XsS version tonight.
But i like the tone, it's BF4 again but in current gen.

 

How did you play it? its says 19 November on Origin store

 

If you bought the ultimate or gold editions you get early access.

 

Looks like BF4 indeed, Infinite looks better to me.

 

Xbox has a 10 hour trial if you have UGP and therefore EA Play. As most of these, it was almost impossible to find. Will not be anywhere on Ea play or by searching.

Anyways I dont know I guess I'm old but the game seems so complicated, I dont know what I'm doing. For example when you spawn in you can get vehicles, by pressing rb+lb together (nowhere is this mentioned, I had to remember it from beta, where its not mentioned either), but theres a limited number, I guess your teammates may get them all. I dont know. To me it seems you'd be WAY more powerful in a tank tho. Whats the point of on foot at all. There's just so much stuff going on. At least Halo I understand much better.

 

Ah, cool - did not know that with UGP I can try out BF. Nice. I'll try to find it...

 

One of the best things to happen to gaming. For something like BF2042 that would be good to have the ability to try the game for a good 10 hours seeing how bad DICE's BF games are at launch.

 

It's very easy to find if you have an android tablet and use the Game Pass App. Simply load up the app and scroll down on the main console page (the initial page for me). Notice the EA Play Game Trials sections at the bottom of this screenshot.
