I think they'll probably go the route of Loot Crates. Cosmetics with the potential for game altering powerups in the loot crates (better gear and/or short term buffs) similar to what they did with the Mass Effect multiplayer, although ME was co-op only for multiplayer.

There is far larger profit potential from Loot Crates as then you get the "whales" (people with lots of disposable income dropping 100's and 1000's of dollars on loot crates) to keep the game afloat. Overwatch and ME both raked in mass amounts of cash from people buying Loot Crates.

Yah, Battlefield 1 is pretty dumb in that they have loot crates with skins but only for weapons. Huge missed opportunity to have player skins/models that could be a lot more interesting and popular. They could even do voice lines and taunts like overwatch if they wanted. Sure, it's not realistic, but the game departs from reality pretty significantly anyway. At least I don't think anyone in real life ever jumped out of a plane mid-flight, with a sniper rifle, shot an enemy pilot and then got back into the plane to continue flying.

Can anyone tell me why Origin is making me download an 8.5GB patch? What in the shit? World record patch size??

Also what do you guys think is the best medic rifle? I go with the Selbstlader M1916 Marksman (any variant is fine but I like the scope) hands down.. nothing else compares with its 26 round mag and fast reload. The Mondragon is technically slightly better but I swear I spend more time reloading that bitch than shooting at bad guys. The M1916 does great damage (3 shot kill at all ranges even limb shots) and has good muzzle velocity. Its disadvantages vs the Mondragon are very small and even if you're 10% more accurate with the Mondragon (generous IMO) with 26 rounds you can afford to miss a shot or two with the M1916 and still get the kill + a couple more kills before having to reload. Just don't click as fast as possible; time your shots so the recoil doesn't mess with your aim. I slaughter with this mofo.

This guy agrees.

To account for its weakness at very close range, pick the Autorevolver as a sidearm. That thing is a beast.. 2 shot kill and handles very well with hip fire. I get almost as many kills with this as my primary rifle lol.

This game rules, most fun I've had with a BF game since Bad Company 2. :smile:

Likely due to the Revolution version (or w/e it's called) with all the expansion packs. They're most likely making the full product with everything the "base" product and you unlock the extras if you purchase them.

Yep. I think you can play all of the premium content as long as you're in a party with a person that owns the premium pass, you just won't gain any experience progress from it.

Damn dude I feel for anyone with a data cap. Also fuck Premium, the game was 70 bucks already. Paid maps packs are just about the best way to split and kill your playerbase, or at the least make the new maps irrelevant since most people can't play them. Fortunately I heard they won't be doing this any more in future games. Good riddance.
 
I think this is on EA access. Another 4.99 rental maybe just to check out the HDR...I make it a habit to check out any HDR content that either has a free demo (Recore, recently) or can be obtained cheaply.

Of course, RIP my data cap, 70 gigs or whatever of BF1 just to check out the HDR for 5 minutes...maybe not.

It's not the easiest to cancel EA access. You have to "turn off auto renew" instead, is the only thing I dislike.

Battlefield 1 has a free trial as well. You get 9 hours or something like that. The data cap issue remains of course but the cost issue is resolved.

Hmm, I think I have/had that! I'm gonna check. Something also telling me I may have deleted it thinking it was a expired beta or something...could have lost it in the changeover to my Xbox S too, unless it was on my external HDD.
 
Bought the Premium Pass finally today for PC Origin. With Access discount got it for $27.

I just played a round of Conquest on Monte Grappa, shot down 13 planes with the AA at D objective. The key with AA is to wait until the plane is within range before you fire. They don't have time to react before death. :devilish:

Origin Access is the $5 monthly subscription for EA games. You get all the games in the Origin Vault for free as long as your subscription is active and automatically get discounts on everything else.
