A 9TF and 4TF console?

Then subscribtion services, unavoidable?

Fuck no, it's even more GAF bullshit from VFXVeteran.

Trace the sources of that story and you arrive here... https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/tech...ead-against-two-new-xbox-consoles/ar-BB10MJHt

The tip-off comes from NeoGAF member VFXVeteran, who is listed as a "Industry Professional (Vetted)" on the site. VFXVeteran then proceeds to explain that, from what he/she has heard "there are 2 consoles per company", with Microsoft and Sony's mid-gen refresh consoles "introduced at release so that these consoles run the entire 7yr cycle".

Right. It's amazing how long some of these rumors can live and show up as new and then spread to entirely new places to have a second life.

I could see having two different skus for launch where the difference is how much internal storage, but it's getting harder and harder to think they will launch with different cpu/gpu/ram options because that won't really save them enough money for product differentiation into two different pricing levels. In addition, it complicates their production and distribution systems, so that costs more not less.

I've never seen insiders quoted as much as they have been quoted this gen. Seems like journalist work has turned into reading forums and looking for tasty posts and creating articles from it.

And then people ask "What does he have from lying about his info/sources?".

They have no official information on Sony side, they need to find something.

Do you point to series x & Lockhart?

I'm still of the opinion that Lockhart isn't meant for consoles, but instead used in their Surface product line with an added bonus of giving Intel the finger for their pricing demands.

On what Basis? :V

Arden
OBR/Oberon
Sparkman

The first one should be on Xbox.
The second full chance is PS5.

The third is interesting and has only recently begun to evaluate cases, layout is a lot like Renoir, but a little fatter.
And it's not a pen-electric FPx foot.
Instead, semi-custom SoC common BLx

I think Lockhart is console. So I assume Lockhart, as he mentioned afterwards, should be around ~50% size of Arden and a little bit fatter then Renoir (~150mm2), therefore around 180-200mm2. And with BL5 socket, it shouldn't find itself in laptop.

None. Absolutely none.

Although with performance per watt claims on Zen2 and RDNA2, it would make for Lockhart SOC around 22 Watts, no? Does that seem like a console SOC to you?

Odium in neogaf says the two things in PS5 constantly :

1~1.5 GB/s faster SSD

(If xsx is 3.5GB/s then PS5 is about 5GB/s. He doesn’t think PS5 SSD is 2x faster. Does MS also have several times of compression rate for SSD or odium just doesn’t know PS5 has this compression rate?)

GPU computing power 11.5~11.6TF
(2.06GHz?)

*Napkin math incoming*

5500XT 8GB ~ 115W * 0.666 (RDNA2 ~50% more perf per watt) = ~50W for GPU (with 8GB). Additional 4GB + Zen2 would probably bring Lockhart console less then 80W I assume.

How may CUs @ 2.GHz would you need for that number?

Can you write the math for me on this? Just so we're all on the same memory page.:confused: I've been asleep for a couple days.

11.6 TF can be achieved using 44CUs@2.06GHz as I calculated in the previous posts.

Well, 8-core (+SMT) Zen 2 can do 1.8 GHz base 4.2 GHz boost when paired with 8 CU Vega @ 1750 MHz at 15W TDP (configurable TDP 10-25W)
I am thinking it uses some low power process maybe higher BOM or more die size?

With 3.5GHz 8C 16T Zen 2 and 4TF GPU can it be under 35W?
