Q-Entertainment is where Tetsuya Minakuchi(spelling?) , creator of SC5 and Rez resides as CCO(Chief Creative Officer). In this agreement, Bandai publish games by Q-Entertainment under the brand "qb" - "Quest Beat". Games under this new label will be identified as being easy to play, without needing a manual, fresh and original, and a mix of game, music and other genres.

Their first game is Lumines, released on PSP. Screens at link.

Nice to see Miz hook up with a big partner after Sega tried to make him Naka's lackey. The partner being Bandai makes it a little bittersweet too, as they were the first of Sega's failed merger attempts back in the mid 1990s. It's also nice to see Bandai allying with a critically (though not commerically) successful designer to set up a boutique branch, shows they have some level of ambition in gaming beyond just pumping out licensed shovelware.

Lumines and Meteos both look great, but I hope to see qb extend beyond handheld puzzle games in the future.
