Bad Vga Cable?

Hey guys. I have an xbox360 with a joytech vga cable. I recently noticed after I changed the resolution to 1280*1024 that text has an afterimage. It looks like a ghost of the text shifter over a few pixels. It is much worse at 1280. I have the vga cable attached to my Sony GDM FW900 monitor. Is it the cable or something else? I don't have a digital camera to take a picture with, but maybe ill take one with my phone if no one has any suggestions. I don't want to shell out $40 for the microsoft cable if it is not the problem. Could it be my monitor? I have my PC attached via BNC and it looks fine. Haven't used the vga input before the 360. Also, at lower pixel density the problem is not nearly as severe. At 1280*1024 and 1080P it is very annoying. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

I have seen some bad VGA imagery in my day and afterimages is a typical result of a dud cable.

It's rare that it happens already at 1280 60Hz however. That's not really a "high" resolution anymor. Hasn't been for nearly a decade. Must be an exceedingly crappy cable or else your monitor is perhaps sensitive to cable impedance issues etc?

It might be worth trying another monitor but you might as well complain at the place where you bought the cable I think if you can get a nice steady PC image at the same res and refresh rate.

Peace.
