Australian Launch Reports

I'm not surprised though, since they have Moore on the team and I think they did something similar on PS2 launch. I think is job is to make aius many parallels between Xbox360 and Dreamcast as possible.

No, just certain people feel compelled to connect the two as much as possible for alterior purposes. I have already posted at length on the nonsense of the Dreamcast connection and how people can easily draw other superficial comparisons (like N64/PS3) that only meet a users immediate need and lack any substance.

I see no need for the constant DC "hints" and connections without a substantual examination of the markets and (dis)similarities.

Well if you're talking about things that are by nature non-substantial (the website) and superficial (ie what they've done) and only meet a users immediate need (the chair) and mix it in with the people bringing in issues of "remembering" Xbox1 launch etc... its not hard to see why the connections are being made. The practices are similar and are similarly done by a company working under the same person, so I see no need for there to be too much debate about it. Surely the world has enough Kutaragi jokes and such and wants to move onto something less used.

It look that way because the launch was a flop. But if it was a success, nobody would talk about that MS PR.

Ofcourse. Thast natural. If it cant have an effect why talk about it? It just as if it never happened. If something can do damage people will start noticing

Dont remember it. Didnt make the impact this makes it seems. This one though is huge. This also extends beyond local marketing.
Its hardly an effort to make an innocent point. Most like a hit towards Sony and defamation of their product

Anyways I think now that Sony is in a really disadvantageous position. I feel like the PS3 is bound to flop

How is it defamation?

How is it defamation?

Its an arrogant take, making fan of it and pointing out that Sony is losing by 360 as well as giving the expected oportunity to the media to continue this and show to people that 360 is beating the PS3, the successor to the most succesful console.

Its a part of the marketing. Its usage is to reduce the popularity of the competitor and increase theirs. What? That was solely a good sense of humor? without any benefits and use such as a way to adverdise their product over their competitor by pointing our how PS3 is falling behind the 360? Especially during one of the most important events of their competitor? Its trying to ruin the launch event (a not very succesful one anyways) knowing the media keeps its full attention to it to show PS3 news but they manage to make fan of it and force the 360 is hitting you news

That's not defamation, but whatever. By the way, what's your take on the German PS3 launch with the guy jumping on an Xbox 360?

I'm beginning to see a pattern to what makes an impact on you.

Here's a link to the German launch stomp: http://kotaku.com/gaming/europe/germans-attack-xbox-360-at-ps3-launch-swiss-are-neutral-246517.php

This may have been staged by Sony PR, though perhaps it was just the local store reps.

I saw the link before.

As for the part in bold what are you trying to imply with that and what does it have to do with me?

It not a matter of having an impact on me. Its a matter of having an impact pn the image of a product to the public. It was a failed attempt to bash the 360. A very unsuccesful one, and a one that mostly ridiculed those idiots participating in it

My point was that you seem to be affected more by these marketing tactics when its about a product you care about; it doesn't seem to bother you when it's in the other direction.

Thast why I felt offended by your point because it has nothing to do with it

Well, my apologies since I honestly meant no offense. But I'm a bit confused about what you find upsetting about the Xbox 360 "counter" marketing? Other than what you stated before, about how it implies something about the superiority of the Playstation brand...

Well I wasnt pointing to a PS superiority. But to the message MS was trying to point out. Its a strategy where you can take someone's good past, turn it against him and use it towards your own benefit later on. They also present an arrogant and funny attitude to put Sony low. Its a very smart tactic that works

Well the German effort though is....stupid....They are ridiculing theirselves and they also bring the attention against them. If your Playstation brand's so great and will continue to be succesful then why are you so much concerned of braking 360's in public like a moron? They give the opposite message of the one they want
They look like a bunch of idiots. Its hardly a succesful marketing strategy. If Sony organised that they SUCK terribly . They hardly succeeded at anything
And the funny part is, even if it was a succesful marketing I ve seen that stupid event in Germany only in Kotaku. It doesnt seem to have taken enough attention. And it should stay that way. It's better for them
MS act though is classic. An offensive arrogant marketing strategy that works with lots of humor
