with the detonator 50.x series drivers? I know in the benchmarks leaked a few days ago, it said that they wouldn't be ready for testing this week, and it seems not. Does this mean that in the 50.x series we will see even GREATER speed improvements with the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, or is what we see now pretty much what we are going to get?

Yes, in two days the 50's are out and speed improves over entire gffx line. At least according to anand who I think said it.

I think the speed increase will be with shaders (better scheduling) over anything else, maybe the NV35 will develop some new AA modes.

It's hard to imagine Nvidia letting reviewers post benchmarks of NV35 if they were planning on getting a speed boost a few days later. My guess is that the 44.03 driver most reviews used is a beta version of Detonator FX.
