That's a possibility (4xMSAA + edge in DX9). I bumped all the DX9 cfgs to match DX10 and it looks great but runs significantly slower than vanilla DX9 + the mods in this thread. I know 8xMSAA + edge is too slow. I think if I can just detune a few settings (somewhere between high and very high for DX10) I can get either DX10 SSAA or DX9 8xAAA working just dandy. The bummer is that means I need to read a lot on Crysis tweaking to find out what will give me fps without costing to much eye candy :)

I did play about an hour with very high (dx10ish) DX9 8xAAA last night. A bit too choppy for my tastes, but playable. Probably averaged in the low thirties.

I schnarffed my config on Tuesday so had to recover the entire game. I am now running DX10 Very High, Rygels TP, Foilage TP. AF+POM, AA Edge Blur Mod and 4xMSAA. Go to say it looks pretty good and performance is excellent. Will post some screenshots tonight once I have uploaded Nebula's TOD and config. Thanks for that Nebula!;)

What's the AA Edge Blur Mod?
You can run all that stuff with TrAA at good rates? Does Nebula's TOD and config detune some stuff?

Yep, defo more than acceptable fps. With no SSAA either default or SLI the performance is absolutely excellent. Will post official bench results and screenies when I get home.

The edge-blur AA mod is pretty damn sweet. you can download it from: http://redirectingat.com/?id=3031X597717&xs=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcrymod.com%2Fattachment.php%3Fattachmentid%3D75862&sref=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.overclockersclub.com%2Findex.php%3Fshowtopic%3D172883

Okay guys. Help me out here...
Here's my situation:

DX10 very high, Rygel's TP, Neb's particles, Reli2 at 1920x1200 with 8xMSAA and 16xAF (CCC forced) is no problem. TrSSAA is not possible in DX10 other than through downsampling hack. Using downsampling SSAA the framerate is too low.

DX9 default high (very high not enabled in vanilla), Neb's, Rygel, Reli, 1920x1200 with 8xAAA (MSAA + TrSSAA) and 16x AF is also no problem and looks sweet.

If I force all very high cfgs for DX9, however, the speed is comparable to very high DX10 with forced SSAA - too low.

Are either of you saying you've found a way to have some form of SSAA at VERY HIGH (either DX10 or DX9 with hacked cfgs) and fps near 60?

If so, please elaborate as I should certainly be able to get there with my rig.

Ah...I see, you're using that postaa.pak.

Okay with that and 8xMSAA my framerates are great (70-130 range), but the AA on foliage is pretty lacking...

Yes the foilage is still the contentious issue. The foilage texture pack helps a lot here too. I will run some tests with the aa/blur mod, with SLI SSAA as I think that will be the best NV solution.

I have to agree with Almighty though the ATI results, particularly on distant foilage are superior... so far.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with one of the tweak guides' "low cost dx9 route to near dx10 very high" with as many upgraded textures and mods as possible and 8xAAA Nothing comes close to 8xAAA in dx9 for cleaning up the foliage without tanking the fps. Now I need some good ToDs.

I've just downloaded a High-Res texture pack for foliage, Looks good and as the transparent/alpha stuff is higher quality it looks even better when it has TRSAA applied

I think I am using that already. Actually killing two birds with one stone I discovered it on a tweakguide on overclockers, which also mentions Rizel2, SSAO, AA, POM&AF, etc.

Best anti-aliasing for Crysis is MLAA+4xMSAA+4xTRSAA

I don't know if you've noticed that the games built in 'EdgeAA' makes the tree's and other foliage seem 'fuller' and 'thicker' compared to with it turned off.

The problem is that turning on anti-aliasing turns edgeeAA off making the foliage seem thinner and less 'full'

MLAA brings back this fullness and thickness that turning on anti-aliasing removes, Toss in 4xMSAA+4xTRSAA on top and it looks so smooth.

Problem is it looks weird as well, At first I thought it looked wrong but the problem is I'm just not used to seeing the game with proper anti-aliasing and this full 'thick' foliage.

If you have an ATI card then turn it on and try it :)

Here's the commands to cap Crysis/Warheads frame rate :

fixed_time_step = ( What ever the value is for your desired frame rate )

-0,0225 - > 45 fps
-0.024 - > 42 fps
-0.0255 - > 40 fps
-0.029 - > 35 fps
-0.0335 - > 30 fps

So as an example to cap the game at 30fps the command would be : fixed_time_step = -0.0335

Very helpful if like me your frame rate can be 70+fps one second and low 40's in the next second.

Game is a lot smoother as it basically gets rid annoying frame rate spikes and drops :D

Your FPS probably never drops below 30 right?

Uhh.. I must've been thinking of a different command nevermind.

It is much better to play capped at 30fps thanks for that.
