Regular
They are showing the E-3 preview show right now. The first segment was for the XBOX360. They have a panel that is debating things right also.

they are talking out thier back side .

They start off saying the dc had the games and the ps2 games were ugly and there was nothing to play and finish with sony having the games and thats why it beat the others .

If it was really true the dc would win.

OH, jvd. You're so cute sometimes.

Did you see the part where they fawned over Grand Theft Auto? Where they said it single-handedly changed the tide?

And do you disagree that in the end, PS2's game library was by far the widest and most varied of all three (er, four) consoles?

Oh, and as you know, Sega didn't have EA. That hurt.

sadly as was discussed here it wont happen.

Once again

dc launched almost 2 years before the ps2

dc was at a much lower price point for launch 2 years before the ps2 launched at a much higher price point and sold for a loss

This time around the time diffrence is about 6 months . We allready see that the leap between the graphics of the two systems and the power is very similar

This was most likely taped before the two shows tonight

if it was about the games however the ps2 would have been still born at launch . Gta 3 came out when sega had already given up btw

I don't know, jvd, some of that 360 stuff did NOT look so far beyond today's stuff.

When you consider that PS3 stuff HAS to be far earlier - did you see that amazing two-month-old UT2007 demo? - I think PS3 probably yanks the 360's pants down and does terrible things to it.

you should speak only after seeing todays showing of the x360 .

The games look just as good as the ps3 games .

Aside from that we don't know what is real time and what is prerendered or cgi on either system . So its tough to say right now but looking at specs the ps3 wont outperform the x360 by much

Well that's the advantage of Sony's name recognition and reputation. And Sega's poor image with gamers who'd gotten burned on 32X and Saturn. And the fact that Sony included DVD capability out of the box - my PS2 was my first DVD player, as I'm sure it was a lot of other people's.

The fact is, Sony already had all the developers with PSone. People KNEW they'd come to PS2, too. So it WAS about the games from the beginning.

I bought mine with the expectation that Ps2 would be the console with the games I wanted to play - and that's just how it turned out.

I agree this was taped before the shows tonight. I also agree the DC was at 2/3 of the price point and 2 years older. I think the DC held up pretty damn well for its handicaps I would say it was by far the best designed system this generation. IF sega would of waited a year they could of included the e-lan chip and most likely another GPU just like the naomi 2 arcade setup. Also the GPUs probably would of had double the clock speeds.

Uhh, dude... I just got DONE watching the Microsoft conference! :)

The games look just as good as the ps3 games .

Some looked very nice. Most did not fare so well after Sony's showing.

I'll leave that for the devs to tell us. And until we see more REAL games. Until then... my gut (and my eyes) tell me that PS3 is the more capable machine... and maybe not by such a small margin.

Well one of the speakers on G4 tv did make a great point about when Halo 1 was first shown for the announced xbox and people were a little underwhelmed (especially considering it was to be a PC game before MS bought Bungie) Peoples attitudes changed and many people were happy with the final result. (Minor complaints withstanding) Hopefully PDZ will follow in that area.

MS made a big mistake in my opinion for showing the MTV "so called unveiling" as it was using basicly the development kits to run the games and were far from what the the Xbox 360 final hardware is capable of. Now this could be a big mistake or possibly a set up for MS to really blow our socks off and show something at E3. We will find out this week but either way whichever console system people decide on, Im sure we wont be too disappointed.

And Xbox 360 has 6 EA titles aimed at launch and 25 in the works. So I am not sure the motiviation for you bringing up the comparison. Comparing the DC to Xbox 360 ignores so many things it is not even funny. Sega was in debt and had burned customer good will with 32X and the early SS death. MS has momentum and a quality machine.

Most importantly MS has made serious moves in developer support, and that is really key. Squar-Enix is on. That says a lot.

I don't know, jvd, some of that 360 stuff did NOT look so far beyond today's stuff.

But a lot did. The difference was Sony focused on two handfuls of titles and has the luxery of another E3 to demo stuff--MS has a launch this fall. And before we start going gagga on either side, it is hard to tell what was REAL and what was CGI from either show. But I watched both and I must say that MS matched what Sony had to show (Elder Scrolls, NBA 2K6, PGR3, GR3, Gears of War, NFS, etc...).

Stating anything more before we actually see ingame footage is really fanboish. "My CGI render is better than your CGI render" I remember all the E3 tech demos and "game target" stuff from the PS2 and Xbox... sorry, I will wait until I see a controller in someones hand and real gameplay, not just a camera moving.

When you consider that PS3 stuff HAS to be far earlier - did you see that amazing two-month-old UT2007 demo? - I think PS3 probably yanks the 360's pants down and does terrible things to it.

:? What are you talking about? Lets look at a total apples-to-apples comparison:

Gear of War = UT2007

So you are saying that UT2007 looked so much better that Gears of War that it was whipping that X360? I do not believe someone could objectively say that. From what we have seen (a few screenshots and fuzzy videos) the IQ on both is basically the same and the technology looks the same (because it is!). I did not notice any missing features on the Xbox 360. Not to say they are not there--but I know you would be hard pressed to demonstrate it is technically lacking (i.e. don't bring art into it). You mention the UT2007 demo as something great--I agree, as do most others who think it was the best the PS3 showed--but from what I could see they were near identical in quality. And UT2007 was in development on the PS3 for 2 months, but had been worked on for a long time. And that goes for much on both sides--SOME developers have been working on stuff for a while.

Mm, really? How about: BECAUSE THEY SAID IT ON G4 AND THE G4 SHOW IS THE TOPIC OF THIS THREAD.

Late night for you or what? :?
