Until it proves itself different from both REZ and the Frequency/Amplitude seires ways of thinking and provides something completely different, it all sounds like a mixture of the 2 above games with lots of motion blur... And pretty swirly lights...

Anyhow I'll have to wait and see. Minter is cool and all as a cult hero but frankly his games leave much to be desired imo. I mean, Camel Attack 2000 (or whatever it was called) and a rehashed version of Tempest don't really impress me. I used to play the arcade version a ton and even have the Jaguar version but eh, oh well. That's me.

I should probably insert something along the lines of "Anyone who does not bow down and worship at the feet of Tempest 2000 deserves a good slap" but that's the sort of comment I'd only make down the pub when I could buy the recipient a pint or three for a proper argument.

Many of his other games have been a bit inconsistent, but his recent work (minigames of Gridrunner ++ and the latest version of Hovver Bovver) has been great from a gameplay point of view.

Oh, i wasn't aware of that. I'll take that back, although i still think the new game should provide some new element to the game. Reharshes are always bad.
Good to know this is "the daddy" though.

He's got access to Lionhead's resources, my impression so far is that he hasn't made much use of this - the screenshots so far look entirely 'lightsynth-generated'.

But he's getting a lot of input by his forum users. Having parties with them etc... He seems like a 8) guy in the real sense (not in the Bill Gates in a leather Xbox jacket sense)

I'd imagine that Lionhead's mainly supposed to assist with legalities and distribution... maybe the odd artistical support.

It's available for download, as it's shareware. I recommend the Steem emulator for the virtual ST to run it on.
