Another soft shadows demo

Since he doesn't own a 6800, it may be challenging to improve performance.

Sure, but help and hints have been offered here and he certainly doesn't seem to shy away from such tasks. Remember, the Dynamic Branching demo was also plagued in terms of performance for the 6800 until the "Full Stencil Clear" was added (wasn't this particular one simply reversed in order to how it was originally implemented?) for it. Performance sky rocketed on the 6800 after this tweak. All done without Humus even touching a 6800. Fabulous stuff ;)

Now that I think of it, it would probably be helpful in the future if someone with a 6800 would send a capsviewer dump to me.
Surely ATI can supply you with one on company expense!? :)

A quick scan through the caps seems to indicate that other than texture formats, the 6800 appears to have a "yes" for every cap.

I have "yes" for every caps even on my GF 4Ti4200 ;)

Yes, I know why...

Sorry, I didn't realize that the yes/no caps are defined by the driver, not DX.
Uh, no, it's just that the DX caps viewer only shows the YES caps until you select "All caps" in the View menu ;)
