im looking at the amd 3500+ newcastle cpu, and now im seeing that theres a 3500+ winchester model

what are the differences, and which one is better?!

The Newcastle core was made on the 130nm process, whereas the newer Winchester core is made on a 90nm process. Winchester cores run cooler, overclock better, and hence are the core of choice.

Edit: corrected small typo.

Wrong, Newcastle is .13m micron. available in both 754 & 939. Winchester is .09 micron socket 939 ATM......

would there be any performance benefits between the 2 cores (newcastle 3500 939, or the Winchester 3500 939)?

hopefully it comes before june

well i dont plan on overcloking

but wanna know is there any performance benefits of getting the .09 rather than the .13?

If you are not O/C'ing, no. However, Venice does have SSE3, which the others don't.
That's not quite true. The 90nm chips ARE faster, though not a lot. 1% or so maybe overall, just because some tweaks were made to the chip design (a venice is very slightly faster than a winchester, which itself is very slightly faster than a newcastle).

Technicly, you are right....but effectively, there is no difference. And, compairing Venice & Winchester, the same can be said.
