9 minute GOW Cliffy and Mark Rein Interview

You know, I keep hearing people say the animations are crap. I don't really see any crap animations, but I do see that the switching from animation to animation (Walking too shooting to covering) is really really quick. Is that more of a gameplay choice or did they mess up and said "go with it" ?

Also, 1 core? What are the other two going to do if they decide to use them?

There talking about the looping of animation and the general choppiness of it. When you see the main character walk...it looks like hes limping (I finally pinned what was weird about his walking animation). It seems like they need to add more sequences to the animation, so it will make him appear to moving more fluidly from point to point (mechanicly). Also..the shooting and reloading animations seem to be smoothing out. Yet the way the gun is pulled out and the way he moves from motion to motion seems to quick.

I think the character animation was not so much as crap, but more of a question of style. The way the main character moves when chooses to turn from side to side is very, very arcadish. But I think that's what the developers wanted in the first place. A more dynamic and frenzy oriented gameplay, instead of a more realistic one. I for one, do not like this approach. I think that if you're trying to render your characters as realistic as possible, you should also have them moving realistically. But that's just my opinion.

I just can't believe people that don't think this looks like a next gen game. this game looks so good and it's months away from being complete.

No this game definitely looks next-gen; I just think some people have to talk downthe 'opposing' console's games at any cost, reality notwithstanding. For myself though, knowing that a PC version is to be released after the 360 version, and supposedly with 'extra features,' Gears has become detached in my mind from the 360 and has just become a 'game I will get' at a later date in time.

Has anyone noticed how bad the fire looks? It appears to be a few giant rotating sprites. It's kinda weird. Most of the game looks incredible, but then several small things are awful so it makes it feel unbalanced visually.

I don't (again) like the animation of the game meaning how the characters move + things look scripted like that exploding car. Its funny listening to Cliffy saying "great AI, enenies are going after you etc etc.." but while I watched those video's I haven't even seen 1 enemy moving.. (haven't watched them all though) Graphics look nice but a little too "typical" meaning that plastic glow is on every object.

What in this game is supposed to be that is special? It looks very much like a current gen pc game on a topend card.

It would be nice to play this game with a keyboard mouse combo.

That's just speculation buddy. They also said that Jade Empire was coming to the PC, and you remember how long Halo took right? And halo2 isn't even being considered. So the odds of that happening are pretty bad, and EPic is only working on Xbox 360 GOW right now.

edit: It says a PC version was confirmed by Epic, what a bunch of BS, yeah i guess they know this....but nobody else knows this. I call that wishfull thinking from their part.

Calm down dude, I was asked for a link and I provided it. Hey if it ends up not being true, that's all good, sounded plausible enough to me the way it was written. If it does end up being true though, with your response I'm worried you'll have a heart-attack!

And who benefits from 2007 GOW? Windows Vist and Direct x 10 = Microsoft

Exactly. Who said otherwise? And who cares?
