I'd take a cooler, quieter, less power consuming 360 over a different colored one. Besides, theres tons of 3rd party companies out there that sell 360 cases
Putting the power brick inside and keeping the case the same would be a stupid move IMO. Most people keep the brick on the floor hidden away so they don't really care.
I have wondered if they did make a 'mini', how they would shrink the box, yet still keep the hdd attachable.
We certainly won't see slim PS2 sized boxes I'd expect.
1. Wait until sales slump in the Spring and then drop price to $199/$299 on 65 nm process.
2. Hold price until Spring of 2008 and launch slim $199/$299 Xbox 360 HD, with built in HD-DVD Drive only for movie playback. At this point HD-DVD movie library will be large & HD will be more of a standard feature in middle-class homes.
3. Drop price in Spring of 2009 to $149/$249.
4. Drop price in Spring of 2010 to $99/$199 after a shrink to 45nm.
All subject to changes in market conditions of course.

My advice would be: By 2008 HD DVD should be more of a commodity item and the "HD DVD Bulletpoint" less relevant, ESPECIALLY for gamers / parents wanting a good console as cheap as possible.
$149 + 2 Budgets games /or/ $199 with HDD /or/ $199 with HD DVD drive
The first two will be more important, imo, to drive sales of games. Adding an extra SKU with HD DVD is not a bad idea, but I think to touch as many market segments as possible, especially in other countries, lowering the cost as much as possible will be vital. Adding $50 of extra cost doesn't seem like a good move and is counter intuitive to their decisions. The external Addon is less risk and seems to work fine.
But I do fully endorse the price drops I think it will go:
Spring 2007: $199/$299
Spring 2008: $179/$229
Spring 2009: $149/$199
Spring 2010: $129/$179
Spring 2011: $99/$149
In 2007/2008 we may see an "AV" SKU with HD DVD or a dual disk reader and other perks and a larger HDD; in 2011 I think we will see the Xbox3.
Imo, if MS doesn't hit $199 with the Core SKU in 2007--and possibly drop the price on the HDD--I think they have dropped the ball. Process shrinks or not, it is necessary. $229 doesn't cut it IMO.
I wonder ha my self actually. I haven't seen anything about it being mentioned by MS so I awlays figured that it might be ways of, so it might be better to get a 360 now and wait, which should take quite some time, for a 60 were all the processors are done on a smaller process...

Are 65nm Xenons really going to be delayed or is production just going to be hindered? Keep in mind, Chartered Semiconductors isn't the only one fabbing the chip for Microsoft; IBM is making them too. So then my question is if IBM is scheduled to produce them at the same original target Q1 2007 as Chartered. And if so, are they themselves on schedule?
If those two are true, then perhaps there is even more credence to the rumours regarding the HDMI Xbox360 SKU having 65nm Xe being "available soon"...
