60GB PS3 offers reports from members

I ve noticed that retailers are adjusting the PS3 offers after Sony's announcement.

They are starting to sell the PS3 with an extra controller and two exclusive PS3 games for the same price from what I ve observed in two store chains in my area. In US from what I ve heard only a price drop occurred which probably shows that the price drop announcement has affected differently retailers in each country

I made this thread not to report sales data or the likes but for members to report their observations on what changes retailers in their areas/countries are doing on their PS3 offers after the price drop announcement.

From what I've seen here they've just gone with the price drop, no bundles. Still lots of them in stock.

In London I'm starting to see banners (from Game I think) on buses saying "PS3 60GB + Motorstorm + Resistance + 2 controllers... £100 off".

I think it's quite telling that it's advertised as £100 off rather than giving the actual price. C'mon Sony drop that price!

Before the Starter Pack offer the PS3 cost 679€ in Finland, now it costs 699€. What I don't understand is why the Starter Pack is 100€ more expensive here than it's in Sweden.

You can find it for 650e (gigantti, VK). Guess most shoppes are still trying to offset the price of the old batch which never sold ;)

Old price in Denmark was (with the current exchange rate) 1020 dollars

Current price is 925 dollars, including Motorstorm and RFOM. Both games retail at 100 dollars a piece.

Hello folks,

I just would like to add that I was browsing for an LCD HDTV at the American Tech retailers over the weekend (Best Buy, Circuit City, Target (which sells everything)) and found that nearly all PS3 were sold. Best Buy had a few units left, Circuit City had sold-out and Target had sold-out. I asked workers from each how much the 100 USD difference had to do with it, and they said that it was immediately impactual. I knew it would make some difference but I am surprised.

Just looking at the UK web sites and hardly any sites are offereing the new deal which I though was anounced at E3; the PS3 + 2xSIXAXIS + 2xSony Games(Motorstorm/ F1/ R:foM/ Genji/ etc.).

Many sites still list the price as at £420-30 for PS3 + 1xSIXAXIS + HDMI cable.

Even Sony's own web site are offering PS3 + 1xSIXAXIS + 2xSony Games for £485!!!!

Is there an offical starter pack in the UK?

At the moment Amazon look by far the best.

I just realised something...

As of today, the starter pack is now the only way to buy the PS3 in NZ, and most of Europe too (it would seem).
Here, Resistance is an R16 rated game. In other parts of Europe, it's PEGI rating is 18+.

So therefore in Europe the PS3 is now an R16 or 18+ console.
What parent is going to buy an 18+ rated console this christmas?!

?!?!
My mind. It boggles.

if a parent had that much money to spend on a single gift for a child under 18 i think they could painlessly remove that one game from the box and re-sell it or give it away etc.. no? Simply due to the price i'd even say it was geared more toward the 18+ crowd anyway.

From a mature gamers perspective you shouldnt complain. Thats the best retail forced bundle i've seen yet, all of the 360 ones have been terrible. At least they didnt tack on extra money and give you a couple tennis games or something which would personally make me ask the clerk "are you serious?".

For those in the US who sign up for a Sony card by 8/31 you get a $150 card credit after your first purchase over $299. You can get a 60GB PS3 with 5 BD movies for $350.

many credit cards give you a "gift" credit toward your first purchase, thats not exactly news nor is it a good idea to open up a new card you dont need for one purchase. If you were indeed that desperate theres a number of companies who do the same thing though-out the year only allow it to be put toward any purchase rather than one only through sony's own store as this one is.
