The eye missing, the jungle/rambo attire, and the voice (diving off the waterfall, panting at the end) does NOT sound like David Hayte (or whatever his name was) at ALL.
So that's my theory Anyone else want to take a stab at speculation?

Solidus lost his eye during MGS2.

Don't think so, when/where/exactly? You see him in the flashbacks as President sporting two eyes, but the story can always adapt.
Nothing Odd about it. As a matter of fact, jungle setting was only not present in MGS and MGS2. MG1, MG2, even the gameboy MGS had it. It's jut back to roots for MGS, Id' sayOdd, sort of like MGS does Vietnam
I very much doubt it's the same engine. How would they pull of the MGS2 room structure in a jungle-like setting? Besides, effects clearly look different here (fire and such) I think it's using souped up MGS2 engine (probably with the effects engine devised from ZOE2) or a completely new engine. Its clearly using the MGS2 engine, but it looks nice.

GOTY? you mean cinematics of the year
That kind of stuff makes the games made by Kojima's team so beautiful to look at, IMO.I still can't get over how accurate this is: like the scene about 2/3rds the way threw where your above Snake in the river and he starts firing and you just hear the (correct) clicking sound of the AR15 from that distance. Or the fish trying to swim up river when Snake is being chased by the dogs... it's uncanny.

Don't bother with it. That QT is even worse quality than the WMV I posted, they just converted WMV to QT and scaled it up.edit: nm, got the 31 meg quicktime @ IGN.
HEY! The Rambo thingy was from me, but don't lump me together with those nay-sayers. I like MGS too ... the trailer happend to reminded me of the Rambo movies, one ronin blending in with the jungle, fighting a almost hopeless battle ... is the comparison so farfetched? Ok, the Rambo movies were corny, but I am sure Kojima-san will fix that ...Vince said:Exactly, how could you even say this is odd? Or that people bring up Rambo? Why do I get the same feeling these people are the ones who don't understand MGS2 and can't understand why it's not a SC.
