3D ANIMATION CLIP MADE WITH MAYA 5

gambino.... try adding some actual geometry to the top of the popcans. use HDRI for lighting. maybe throw in a small ammount of dof and motion blur.

Can you like, NOT encode in apple-format the next time please? :)

practically all CGers use quicktime format, because if you're doing video editing then the Mac with Final Cut Pro is simply the best you can get without investing in a full-blown Avid system. So, .mov format is the standard among CG animators. When I'm judging competitions I will not even view .avi's and, although I feel bad for the few people who use it, it's their own fault for using a non-standard where everyone else is using .mov

Uhh, that sounds very...intelligent...

sorry.... i meant .wmv Basically, anything that Quicktime can't play because it is the industry standard and everyone competent enough to make a submission should know that.

Why can't you judge the quality of an animation because the format it's stored in isn't quicktime?

It's like saying a gymnastics judge refuses to judge competitors wearing black tights.

That's just dumb, dude. Period.

i didnt say not in quicktime format, i said one that quicktime doesnt play. the reson for that is that quicktime is the only program i will use for video, except for PowerDVD fr my DVD drive. and it's not like a judge refusing to judge competitors wearing black tights, it's like a judge refusing to judge contestants that want to perform at a different location and transmit their performance over live video feed. I using a non-standard format is unproffesional and I don't see a reason to waste my time on it when they make the conscious choice to use it. industry standard hardware for video editing is Mac's and anyone who isn't able to make their animation compatible (without having to download Microsofts player, i dont want anything MS touching my Mac or UNIX systems and I think most people that run them feel the same) deserves the harsh judgement that they recieve.

Try googling for quicktimealternative.

Lets you watch quicktime formats on a properly functioning player (eg media player classic) rather than that crappy quicktime one which is probably only beaten for crapness by realone (which there is also a realalternative for)

i happen to prefer quicktime player. it's light and compact, especially as opposed to some other bloated apps (wmplayer? )
