A fan blade cracked off my Zalman VGA cooler.

Damn it! I was cleaning my PC & desk yesterday and when I pulled my X800 too vaccum out my case I noticed one of the fan blades had cracked off. :???:

I pulled the cooler and replaced it with an Arctic Silencer rev 3 that I found behind my monitor, (I actually found a lot of kewl shite cleaning off my desk), and was surprised when it fit and seemed to work fine.

I'd been having some trouble with lock-ups/crashing lately, and I haven't had any since. Would 1 fan blade missing off my VGA cooler be enough for that?

Noise!

Who cares for overheating in this case*, think about the noise!

Unbalanced fan blades are one of the worst thing ever. It only means one thing to me, time to buy a new cooler.

*Well, who other then you.

It shouldn't be too hard to replace the fan. Many people at SilentPCReview have done Zalman fan mods.
Thanks, I'll look around there and come up with something clever out of me filing-cabinet-o-geekiness. :)

It would be handy if they had a dozen blades instead of 11. Then you could just break the opposite one off.
