More Newegg fun!

Yeah I ain't saying I will buy one, but having a keyboard you can throw in the washing machine is pretty nifty I think.

Matrox how else can you make your keyboard washable?

Liquid proof is one thing, washable is another! You can buy "skins" - plyable plastic form fitting keyboard covers that will keep stuff (liquids, taco chips and other edible and non edible schrapnel) off & out of your keyboard. But washable.....hmmmm.....guess if you have a given site that requires one hand free, these might just be a worthy investment!  8)

Yeah, but an easy to clean keyboard that sucks to type on ain't exactly the best. :?

On a happy note, I found out that you CAN remove the keys on this UltraX without destroying the keyboard...but it's a bit tricky. I pulled the windows/menu keys and used an exacto knife to slice out the rubber bit that makes the key impact and now the keys are still there but don't do anything. :)

 Nice point matrox, I didn't think about it that way, but it is pretty funny.

I haven't used one so I don't know but some reviewers actually said they were nice to type on. I would probably have to see one myself to want to buy it, unless I had a strong need for it..

I actually was going to make a computer in my dash, and I thought a foldable keyboard would be just the ticket for that, but we dont have any money now

If I see one lying around in a shop, I might buy one of these:

Just for the total geekyness of it. And while you have no tactile feedback (duh), they seem to work really well.

:D

the key to typing

Logitech Ultra
The Logitech keyboard that opened this thread is fantastic. The touch is silky, without giving up the tactile feedback so many laptops have lost. The Logitech ultra is the first keyboard I've bought in quantities since the original IBM PC/Northgate clicky keyboard. I put them on all my machines--even my Macintoshes, using a PS2/USB adapter. It's the best looking keyboard I've seen in years.

Rolling washable keyboard
I have been tempted to get one of those roll-up limp noodle keyboards to shove in my SFF carry bag--just to have it, not to use it. Are they all commodity items, or are there real differences between manufacturer models?

Waiting for Godot
I'm still looking for an illuminated keyboard with a decent tactile feedback for nighttime typing (Coding since 1972 and I still have to look at the keys). Those Eluminex or whatever models all suck ass so far; they feel like a bad laptop, or else it's all for show; you cannot read them in the dark any better than a regular keypad.

Anyone handle a Saitek Eclipse yet? That looks like a real keyboard with the letters cut out and backlit. Mmmm.

You mean this one?

Nope, but it sure looks kewl. I don't think I could give up the sweet action on my UltraX though, I don't code so I ain't going for all the funky characters all the time. ;)

WOO-HOO!!!!

I just got done putting the Zalman 700cu on me X800 TT and re-installing her and it seems to work like a charm, but I'm gonna give it a few days for the AS5 to cure to measure temps. (This new AS5 is a lot better than the original stuff I tried so long ago, it made it easy enough for ME to do a neat as hell job! )

Funny thing, as I finished up the X800 project I looked at my PC and noticed the 120mm fan had just fallen off the 6800GT. I had never intended to run it long like that, I was just experimenting...but the timing just cracked me the fuck up.

So does the keyboard in the original post have the whole "Can't press more than 2 keys at a time" issue that my current logitech has?

I mean when I try to crouch AND move diagonally (I'm a WASD guy)... it doesn't work. Can't do it. Either forward, or go sideways, but cannot go diagonally.

menage a trois

No, it's not an issue. Three keys simultaneously are recognized. I am able to press <up_arrow>+<down_arrow>+<side_arrows> on my Logitech Ultraflat.

EDIT: typos.
