PS5 Pro *spawn

I am calling it now, we are max 2 vids away before NXGamer will claim that ps5pro is faster than 4090.
No need for that. Many think PS5 Pro will be about 4070 in many games with some games quite worse (like Alan Wake 2 which was already pretty terrible on PS5 anyways compared to PC or even XSX) and others better (like the 1st party games and a few others).

Given the differential in Alan Wake 2, I doubt the Pro will be able to match the 4070 all that often in third-party games. It's not that Alan Wake 2 represents the norm, but the 4070 being 43% faster in it when the 3070 is 50% faster than the regular PS5 points to a similar, albeit smaller, gap between the 4070 and PS5 Pro's GPU. This also lines up with Cerny's claims of the Pro's GPU being 45% (usually 30-35% in most cases) faster than the base PS5. The 4070 is A LOT faster than 45% faster compared to the base PS5. More like 60-80%. This would make it around 10% faster than the Pro's GPU on the low end and about 40% faster on the high end. In PS5 exclusives, the Pro should be able to edge it out.

On average, I expect the 4070 to be 10-20% better than the Pro's GPU.

DLSS requires the same inputs as FSR and XeSS. And PSSR seems to require the same inputs too, while not being as good as DLLS.

Not implementing DLSS when the game is already generating the necessary inputs is eye wateringly stupid. It's the kind of thing talented indy's mod in.
I mean honestly speaking, why do you care? Hazarding a guess here, it’s not a game that you’re actively playing? Please don’t feign concern for other affected users. It’d be rather unbecoming. If you were upset because it’s your favourite game of all time I’d understand but if I were to guess, it’s not even in your top 5 games. I mean CDPR announced that no pro patch will be released and yet pssr uses the same inputs as DLSS and FSR? Am I throwing a tantrum about it? Nah…

To me, it just reeks of being upset that the devs did something for one platform and not for another. Very childish imo. Especially when you can understand that it was done solely to get new revenue and sales in for the studio. The Callisto protocol had a 24 hour peak of sub 130 and in the last six months has never peaked over 500. Why should a studio waste dev time and money for no more than 500 users that will bring in no new revenue? Goodwill?

If a modder wants to mod it in, they’re free to do so. Modders dont have the same quality, testing, and liability requirements as studios. If I wanted to complain about something on the pc version of Callisto protocol, it wouldn’t be DLSS but rather the actual state of the game. Its quite funny how that was conveniently ignored and the focus was whining about the lack of DLSS.

It doesn't need to be one of my favourite games, or even a game I have played at all, for me to have an opinion on DLSS not being supported for a game that already has the inputs available for DLSS needs.

By not supporting DLSS they delivered a lower quality, worse performing version of the game to the majority of AAA PC gamers, who at this point use RTX enabled machines. It is a technologically inferior product as a result of poor business decisions made. DLSS has been super mainstream for years now. It's not a bonus, it's expected.

And we really don't need to hear your dismissive opinions of other posters' motivations for thinking things. There are plenty of other places where that passes for discussion.

Unintentionally ironic.

"Whining".

Ahh ok, so you have nothing concrete to say. Only “I want DLSS because ps5 pro got PSSR”. Literally port begging but whatever. If you want to whine or port beg, it’s far more effective to hit up the studio on Twitter instead of doing it here where no one can help you quench your feeling of injustice.

Indeed and in nvidia or pc exclusives the 4070 would pull ahead much more than it should. Games optimized for a certain platform are going to perform much better there ofcourse.

On average, I expect the 4070 to be 10-20% better than the Pro's GPU.

Puts it around RTX 3070 or 3070Ti levels of performance in raster then. The RTX's ray tracing and reconstruction is most likely taking the upper-hand though.

Yeah, but Alan Wake 2 certainly isn't the norm. PlayStation gets smoked like a cigar in this game. I'd like to see more neutral games such as Dragon's Dogma 2, Frontiers of Pandora, or even Sony exclusives like Ragnarok and Forbidden West.
Why Alan Wake2 isnt the norm but ported PS5 exclusives to PC are? I think AW2 is the norm, it uses modern technology RT,MS what not and is platform independent. People who think that ps5pro is 10-20% slower than 4070 are delussional imo. This may be true only if we are talking about ps5 exclusives ported to PC that had and still have technical issues.

I didn't say PS5 exclusives are the norm either. If they were, I'd have said the Pro's GPU matches or even exceeds a 4070. In the vast majority of third-party titles (the norm), you will see a 10-20% difference in favor of the 4070.

And I think you are incorrect. Take the 3070 vs. PS5 in Alan Wake 2. The 3070 annihilates the PS5's GPU by a whopping 50%. This most definitely isn't usual. Normally, the 3070 wins by 20-30%. Why would it be any different for the Pro? The 4070, being 10-20% faster than the Pro, perfectly matches our numbers.

Calisto protocol did look amazing i RT mode. Things like the detailed shadows on the back of your character, and of course the reflections, really set it apart from the performance mode.

RT reflections on the cars in GT doesnt seem like something that would make that much difference, seems like something you would need to really look for to notice? I think GT would benefit more from more track detail.

I didn't know Jimenez was working on Callisto! I better understand now about the care they put on the PS5 Pro patch. I once had an email discussion with him about image quality! He is a very passionate and humble guy.

Too late. Alaw Wake 2 case is the norm now on PS5 Pro and it will be used in all discussions about PS5 Pro until PS6.

Wanting a game on one platform to implement AI based upscaling because the same game on a different platform does is port begging now? Wait a second, isn't that the entire premise behind the PS5 Pro's existence? Want PC levels of RT and AI based upscaling? Get a PS5 Pro.

No, we want DLSS because FSR sucks lol.

Becouse the only way we can measure the 4070 to ps5pro is to run the games on same settings ignoring stuff like RT/PT frame gen and so on. So we only measure in a way that is very favorable to consoles. Can we measure how well ps5pro runs in fully PT Cyberpunk2077? So saying its 20% slower is true with the huge asterisk on the side.
