AMD 4700s 8Core CPU [2021]

oh... sounds opportunity to get new GPU for real! XD

btw, i like this: https://www.amd.com/en/desktop-kits/amd-4700s
If it sells, building custom mainboard to overcome 'large iGPU' BW limitations would be a nice solution have cheaper gaming PCs.
(off topic ofc, GPU is disabled here.)

This is actually a salvaged Series X SoC.
In this particular case, I think any dGPU that is used for anything other than 2D and simple 3D is probably going to behave terribly.
AMD claims the PCIe slot only uses up to 4x PCIe 2.0. That's 1GB/s...

Yeah, and maybe the PCIe throttling is there to not violate non competition agreements with MS.

But if they made another APU with a larger GPU, they likely could reuse the mainboard design supporting GDDR6 with high BW for cost efficient gaming PCs.
So i hope it's some kind of test and AMD considers this idea...

Very odd as they don't list any GPU capabilities, not even a port for video.

They use PS5 CPU inside an APU. This is part where GPU is not viable. CPU is 8 cores 16 threads at 3.2 Ghz and 8 GB of GDDR6 at 14 Gbps. Latency is much higher than DDR4. They use a 550 as a discrete GPu

Not all that great of a CPU if theres any truth to it. Is it the reduced clocks, cache or bandwith being the problem? Or all of it?
