Google to buy Valve?!

What would Google need a distribution system for? Is this another pointer that Chrome (although I suppose GoogleDocs) was just the first is a large rollout of Google OS programs? Will we see GOS by the end of the year, which is why Google are buying a content delivery service, rather than making their own, they need the speed to market?

Because digital distribution is growing rapidly bigger and bigger and Google wants their share of the cake?

If Google were to buy Valve, they would release Half-Life 3 in beta form a year ahead of the release date and it would be free.

And a web application.

But it is Valve, so a year ahead of the release date, is exactly the release date initally posited. One year forward, one year back.

An FPS running in a browser window.... didn't Carmack do that already?

No, Carmark didn't do that already and in fact he was beat to it with someone using id's own game! Though they're going to release a version of Quake in a browser.

This rumor was a complete fabrication that was started as a joke by a couple guys (I won't say who). In any case, there's nothing to see here, folks.
