Xbox 360 PR Announcment Question..

I'm waiting for the price to hit 200 EUR. I'm playing my PC and PS2 in the meantime. (And occasionally playing on the 360 in the office, I must admit.) Don't know about the others, but I suspect I'm not the only one :)

:D So meanwhile you are playing the 360 - that means you already jumped in. Now we have to account for the remaining 19999999 ...

I think your question is a bit stupid actually...
I don't understand why you are wondering this in the first place, why do you expect everybody to just buy it now. There are many people who just bought Xbox1 little while ago, who are not early adopters. The bulk of consoles will be bought at a lower price than what it currently is. your line of reasoning only applies to the small fraction of hardcore players.

My question must have been more than a little stupid since you managed to miss it almost completly.
I'm not expecting anything, I'm just wondering. Xbx1 is out of production since more than half a year, with no games on appearing on the system anymore. 360 is here, it has very good value for money (especially now that the PS3 is out, and people can compare), the games are here, quite of few of them in the "must have" list - my question has bearing.
And xboxers are - as David Jaffe pointed in an inteview with 1UP - by definition hardcore gamers, a thing that has been cultivated by MS and it's actually a very strong point and a real asset for the platform.

I wonder if MS shouldnt do a "turn in your old xbox and get 100 USD rebate of a new 360" insead of just letting people dry until the price drops.

Owners of an xbox are "by definition" hardcore gamers? What on earth is that meant to mean?

I'm with Dr Evil here. The question is a bit stupid.

I didn't miss anything, but I agree it was little more than stupid, I was being polite.

With the logic you are going here MS should have sold all those 25M Xboxs to customers at 2001-2002.

Xbox1 had plenty of new games released this past holiday season. Most multplat games that reached the PS2 in 2006 also reached Xbox1. Virtually all EA games hit the Xbox1 this fall, for example. In this context, it is far from dead.

That's what a love about this forum - being polite.

You are being less then logical, since harcore gamers doesn not necesarly mean early adopters. I'm what you could call a hardcore gamer, and I only bought the xbox1 two years ago.

Anyway, xbox1 is all but officially dead, there were a few multiplat games released this fall, up until 20 november, and only 1 game release after this date, I believe it's Payout Poker & Casino . As far as I know, there are only 3 games to be released in the forseeble future - MOH-A, Fuel and SnoCross2.

I, for instance, sold my xbox1 six month ago, as there was nothing interesting coming out anymore for it (exclusives, I mean - I tend to play all multiplat on the PS2, even though sometimes the xbox version is a better one, but I'm more at ease with the controller). I'm playing PS2 now, I dont plan to buy 360 until 2-3 years, like I did with the xbox1, to play all the good exlusives. I imagine some of the xboxers did the same (the new owners will be busy playing the good old games) and now they are playing other systems while waiting for a price drop. Assen - see above - is playing 360 at the office (lucky guy).
But the rest - I dont know, and it bugs me a little. The success on this market must relay on platform continuity - gamers doing the upgrade to the next iteration of the platform. It's good to have half of the current userbase a newcomers (since you can hope to double your installed base), but it's not so great that not so many of your last console owners are making the upgrade I year from launch, especially when that last console is not geting any games anymore. You risk loosing these guys to other consoles.

There's a lot of people that are waiting for halo 3 to come out. Once that happens... they'll probably get the other half that bought the xbox1. Find out how many units of halo 2 were sold and compare them with current 360 units.

That's most probably true, I got my xbox1 bundled with halo2.
