X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Demo was pretty good actually and blew my expectations out of the water. I was playing this while my girlfriend was getting ready go out and we both both were amazed at the gore in this game. Very graphic.

I've played through quite a bit of it at this point and I'm thoroughly impressed. Wolverine of War!

Demo was OK, in fact significantly better than other hack and slash games I tried since Conan. RPG elements are also very welcome. Cutscene framerate was terrible though.
Hopefully this will help my thirst until GoW3.

I very much enjoyed the demo and will most likely be purchasing the pc or ps3 version. A solid step above what I was expecting out of this title.

Why exclude 360?

Why exclude 360?

I dont have one. I ended up purcahasing the PC version. Superior in just about every way with a price tag of only 40usd. Thoroughly enjoying the title.

I thought the demo was immediately fun, but that wore off about halfway through.

It then got a boost from the RPG elements, but I wondered - at the end of the game will my Wolverine be different than yours? Or will all options be unlocked at the end, it's only a matter of order? I guess the question is 'Depth' of the RPG elements.

I also was annoyed with not only how linear the game was, but how uninteractive the environment was. You can only jump/climb in very specific places, the rest of the game isn't actually 3-D, they're just 2-D wall maps. Disappointing for a next-gen game, I'm sorry.

I'd rent it or maybe buy it at $20, but I think even the $40 price tag talked about above is being overly generous.

I tried the demo and didnt like it. The visuals are mediocre and the controls just dont feel right. It is too much button mashing. Framerate doesnt help either.

The camera is very far from the main character and there isnt as much freedom as in other similar titles when it comes to combining your moves.

Thanks for that, this has actually convinced me to probably get this game whenever it drops down to 20-30 dollars.

I guess I'm too stuck in old school gaming and far prefer being on "rails" (ala old school side scrollers) to open world games (GTA series).

Now if it actually has a decent story that would be a nice bonus, as would really good CG cutscenes.

Long live linear games. :)

 Glad I could be of help.

I'm of the sort that longs for games like Deus Ex where there were different paths to the same end and which ones opened for you (or opened the easiest) was determined by what choices you made to your character (RPG elements).

This game has RPG elements, but as I said, I don't think any of them really make a lick of difference and I'm not all that unsure that at the end everybody has 'max everything' anyway.

It's a really linear fighter, you should enjoy it if that's your thing.

It's a God of War-style game, multiple paths are rarely part of the design. Sorta a God of War made by Raven, so it can be technically wonky but have tons of gore and procedural dismemberments.

Just tried the demo myself. Pretty cool! Felt like Far Cry + Tomb Raider + Ninja Gaiden. Heard about the gore, but still surprised by it. However, I won't pick it up unless it's $20 or less.

Raven sure knows how to do gore. The combat is very accessible, and the action is pretty fun, but I fear it may get repetative unless the full game has a lot more than the demo showed.

The graphics are just damn ugly. I don't know how else to say it. Framerate didn't seem to be a problem on the 360 demo. Like others, I'd only consider getting this if it was <$20.

I tried to buy this off Fry's for 44.99 but it was out of stock at the local stores. I'm sure, like more movie based games, it'll drop in price quickly.

Got to the first end of level boss. Pretty standard hack n slash button basher so far. The frame rates pretty consistent , though the water effects seem to have a negative impact. So far pretty UE3 quality. It is very gory but that's wolverine! It's definitely the Conan of this year, but then again I quite enjoyed the mindlessness of that. Not worth full price though, its just got no depth.

I tried the demo on PSN. I wasn't too impressed, but I did like the gore.
I'll probably wait for a price drop as I really like these kind of games.

I rented this game last sunday. Now I'm annoyed that I didn't rent/buy this earlier. About 4hours in and I'm have a ton of fun with this game. The combat is cool, the camera works fine and the action sequences are nicely done. MUCH better than the movie. It seems to be a long game also as going by a FAQ, I still have quite a few levels to tackle. The RPG elements are fun as there is an achievement track built into the game. The various methods of killing are all nicely done. I'm happy with it. I'm playing the game on normal difficulty (defaults to easy and hard is locked) and it's still a lot easier than Ninja Gaiden 2 on easiet.

There's a few issues. There are puzzle and platforming elements into the game that aren't very challenging but some of them require precision jumping. The controls for such platforming sometimes don't work too well but thankfully you spend 95% of the owning shit, so no worries.

Because it's a movie adaptation game, it naturally got a bad rap but the game itself is quite fun. If you can rent it or buy it cheap, pick it up.

Actually, most of what I had heard is that it's fun, better than the movie but many of the bosses suck. Fighting minions is cool, though.

It's highly repetitive, still fun though. What I like most about the game, and what it does better than any other in its genre is that you mostly fight humans (or humanoids).

How much longer till the end? I'm at Alkai Lake dogding the helicopter shooting at me after I used C4 to blow up a truck and make an exit from one of the compounds.

The game's story/mission progress shifts back and forth in time, like the movie, so it's hard to say exactly how far you are along. It is quite lengthy for an action game -- I'd guess 12-15 hours.
