X-Box game recommendations

So I'm getting an X-box for XMas (hmm, there's a marketing slogan in there somewhere) and was looking for some recommendations for games I should pick up.

Not into Sports though but anything else is pretty much game. Tks!

The games I would recommend are Halo, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Splinter Cell, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio Future, Dead or Alive 3, Project Gotham Racing 2. These should get you started, as they play, look and sound great :)

Pretty much what Marc said!

Halo, Knights of the Old Republic, Dead or Alive 3, Rallisport Challenge, Project Gotham Racing 2, and maybe MechAssault.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Splinter Cell, MotoGP 2, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 and if you are going to get Xbox Live, Midtown Madness 3.

If you like hack/slash then you cannot go wrong with Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (priced well now) and Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes. Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon Island Thunder are excellent tactical/squad based FPS. Rainbow Six 3 also looks very sweet but I've only played demo.

Crimson Skies, Halo, Knights of the Old Republic, and Metal Arms are the games I recommend as must haves for Xbox.

Halo
Splinter Cell
Rainbow Six III
GTA:Double Pack
Knights of the Old Republic
any of the Ghost Recon series
I have heard Prince of Persia is fun albeit short, but I have only played the demo.
And from the bargin bin...
Oddworld:Munches Oddysee is pretty good if you like platformers.

If you don't already have PS2, MetalGear Solid:Substance is a fun cheap title.(if you do have PS2, disregard the MGS reccomendation and get it for PS2 as Xbox ver has framerate issues that PS2 ver does not.)

The list of games I find highly enjoyable on the Xbox are Halo, Panzer Dragoon Orta, SEGA GT Online, Project Gotham Racing 1 and 2, Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes. Those are it off the top of my head.

Games that are good to try are Knight of the Old Republic, Brute Force, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia (I have a tough time with this one).

crimson skies
rallisport challenge
Project gotham 2
SSX 3
LOTR two towers or Return of the king !

starwars KOTOR (a bit boring sometimes, maybe try a demo)

you can always chip it and install MAMEx and neogeo emus

Fusion Frenzy is also fun to play with friends. Of course Madden football, etc are also obvious if you like sports. The Xbox in general has the widest and best US sports titles.

I would definitely go for ESPN on the Xbox instead if you intend to play online. Nothing better than good competition from across the country.

Madden and ESPN are probably better choices for the PS2, if you want to play online. Madden is not available online on the Xbox at all, and ESPN you can play leagues and tournaments which are for some reason again not available in the Xbox version. On the other hand you have the lineup of XSN games made by Microsoft that have various online features in them. Top Spin Tennis, which is one of them, comes highly recomended from most people who tried it.
