Wired: PGR3=4xAA+60FPS

If true, a 'woo' and 'yay' are in order...

Wired took the 360 for a test-drive with Gareth Wilson, design manager for Bizarre Creations, which developed the Project Gotham Racing franchise....

As seen above (and in all the images here), the 360's graphics processor uses 4X anti-aliasing to smooth out the jagged, stair-step edges that plague older platforms. Each frame is scrubbed four times to erase jaggies, and PGR3 still runs at 60 frames per second - twice the rate of TV.

I still see jagies in the video's thoe. 4xFSAA wont COMPLETELY remove them @ 720p. Not that there is much difference between 2xFSAA and 4xFSAA anyway.

Cool if it runs 60fps at 4xAA... Now, if only driving games hadn't been so mind-numbingly BORING I might actually have given a damn about this news. :D

At least put some fricken machineguns on those cars so there'd be a POINT in playing that game! How about a mine dispenser in the trunk? Now we're talking! :devilish:

Sega is making that car game with machineguns, you can look forward to that. :)

Anyway good news for 60 fps.

think i'll wait for confirmation from bizarre before i start jumping up and down.

but by then i'll probably have remembered that 30fps/60fps makes little difference to me. i'll be happy for those people for whom this is an issue however.

Ha! My feelings exactly. It'll be cool if so, but I'm not exactly sitting on the fence, waiting for framerate to tip me in a direction.

From the article, the 60fps sounds more like the writer's assumption, than something based on a fact.
But we'll see if there'll be official confirmation by Bizar...... no, the people that have bought the game for their xbox360 ;)

I had the same feeling.

*fingers crossed*

4xAA is much betetr IMO. 2x is...decent, but you're still gettin pretty noticeable jaggies, at 4x everything looks pretty much ideal, and jaggies there are are extremely minimized.

If every game has 4xAA I'm one happy camper.

Yeah, I'd wait for official word on 60fps - I recall an IGN *review* stated Chronicles of Riddick ran at 60fps on the Xbox. Some people just can't tell.

As it's double the quality, 4x sampling is a major gain over 2x, but 4x is still only a small fraction of what's needed to make jagged edges imperceptible in motion.

yo 60 FPS ,now that we are talking, i think next gen Gran Turismo has a competition .

Yeah I know because the next-gen GT isn't looking too good being that it comes out in a few months.

That depends on the original resolution, but in this case, you are correct.
