Win 7 installation questions

done my first install on a computer that belongs to me, 32bit version in case I need an XP driver or indie software which installs a driver.
I used a stick, and was amused as how it's blazingly fast then the "completing installation" steps takes much longer
now I'll have the hassle of a dual boot PC - nothing quite works under Wine. so before getting windows I installed some games using wine, on the big ntfs partition, knowing I'll run them with windows later.. but they're borked!
I might be more successful installing games on windows then playing on wine instead.

Yeah, it's surprising how many games install required files/settings into the registry and/or the reserved user space on your main installation drive.
Thankfully more and more games are stopping the bad habit of using the Windows Registry. And instead using the reserved User space.

about your quake 3 powered games (including american mc gee), you should be able to run widescreen, it even supports both 16:9 and 16:10.
use the r_aspectratio CVAR (0 is 4:3, 1 is 16:9 and 2 is 16:10)
optionnally r_customheight 1080, r_customwidth 1920, r_mode "-1"
then cg_fov can be changed from the default 90 to 95 or 100 or anything you like better.
the game should be pretty gorgeous (as far as you get with quake 3) on a recent 120Hz display and maxed out AA.

click on start menu all - programs - system tools right click select open
right click on backup folder on desktop select cut
click on system tools menu edit - paste

Nope, don't get that. I have System Tools inside Accessories, did you make a mistake and meant Accessories - System Tools or is this something else you have created?here a bit of weirdness with win7
