Will M$ be able "dominate" console market ?

Will M$ be able "dominate" console market like they did to many other kinds of market ? Or Sony (mainly this one) and Nintendo are too strong avoid that ( besides other factors) ?

Well Sony and Ninty are alot better an opponent than Steve Case was. And they know thier stuff. I think MS has realized by now it aint gonna be easy. Look at the huge amounts of money they've spent in advertising and promotions alone. Not including the buyouts of companies and the low royalties deals they've done to woo developers. And not including the expensive expense of making the XB (ie, R & D and production etc.) Look at all of that money they've lost on XB. For what? ... fighting it out with Nintendo for 2nd place. A very distant 2nd place if they end up getting there. I'm sure MS has been humbled by Sony. Just like Sony did Nintendo in the N64 vs PSX era. Not that MS is scared just a bit surprised.

Now I know there are Xbots that will come in here and say MS is in this for the long haul and I know MS is, but while the XB IS MS' entry into the console market, they honestly had Sony's PS2 in thier sites. Now it's the Gamecube they are combatting. MS is having to deal with the old poot instead of the big gansta of the block.

Microsoft has done well all things considered.

I think the shocking thing to Microsoft (probably Nintendo and Sony as well) is the success of the Grand Theft Auto games. They've sold an outrageous amount of copies.

Sure the loses are heavy, but you can't make an omlete without breaking some eggs.

the day MS make money in this bizness i'll say they're viable and here to stay.. until this day i only say they are here..

nintendo, while having a comparable installed base, is making money while MS is bleeding his money, so nintendo is more viable in this bizness.

IMO xbox has a longway to go until the xbox is profitable.

if xbox did sell so badly in europe in its beggining it was because of anti-americanism, not because of its 489 euros price tag ! (~ 489 dollars)..

if it sells so badly in japan it is because of japanese nationalism, the only explanation... otherwise titles like nezumix or wreckless would have overselled square titles, GT3....

if the baad ppl weren't so anti-MS, xbox would have overselled PS2 ! by a factor of 3 times at least....

ok some ppl will boycott the xbox because they disapprove MS, some people will buy xbox because its a MS product and they have so much faith in MS power... but how many ? the general public don't care about being pro-MS or anti-MS.

being a new contender in a sector with well-established members like sony, nintendo, with a bulky console, with not so many great-selling franchises as exclusives (i can only remember of DOA3..).. IMO the xbox is selling rather well..

Nod. Im sick of people saying, 'its only selling well because MS is loosing so much money!!'.. CLUE IN, that's their 'card'. Nintendo has Zelda/Mario, Sony has marketing/style/pop culture, and MS has cash. Each of them is trumping their respective ace to sell units. You said something negative about microsoft and the xbox which is both absurd and inflammatory. Nintendo was sued and lost because they clearly guilty of malpractice. If we judge by behavior i see no reason to ridicule MS more so then Sony or Nintendo.
