That is not the first time the question was asked. Before Beyond3D hit the big time (so too speak) it was simply a message board no flashy adds official news coverage or anything with only a handful of very knowledgeable posters.(comparatively speaking.) I learned of it years ago when I was invested in ATi and nvidia stock. I was urged to go here by a fellow who had knowledge of the R100, R200 and R300 code names so well in advance of any rumors or talk of them anywhere. I still think to this day he was an insider trader. Anyhow things were much less complex it seems then and I can only assume that is what the "which was nice". Though I still like it and many of the original posters are still posting.(that is a good thing BTW) Beyond3D today isn't all that bad at all yet. I just think Dave had a lot less work on his hands back before B3D became a business and renown for its technical prowess. I remember linking to that old message board allot on a wide variety of other high volume boards in particular stock traders in ATi and Nvidia. Bah, I don't recall Dave ever saying as much but I suspect that is the reasoning.

Hehe, i was gonna say "Because it DID hit the big time...?"
But then i remembered, B3D was mentioned on a mag, i think it's 3D-something-something, a CGI mag... Pretty cool, i was like "THAT'S MY HOME!!!" :D

OK, as has been mentioned before the "Which was nice" was a reference to "The Fast Show". The intention was to occasionally rotate the title around and as you remember we initially had "Weebles Wobble" (in fact, if you do a "Weebles Wobble" Google search you'll see we still appear), however when I changed the title to "Which was nice" it seemed to me as though our Google search hits had dropped off. I've since come to the conclusion that google includes the title in the search and you get less hits by changing the title!

Ummm, what was it mentioned in relation to? Just "Web sites to visit" or something?

For other uncultured american swines like me out there who's repertoire of English shows is sadly lacking. (I admit; after Monty Python, Black Adder, Young Ones, Mr Bean, The Goodies, No Honestly, Dave Allan at Large, Bits of Fry and Laurie, and a couple others I'm pretty clueless about good english comedy shows...any recomendations would be appreciated. ;) )

I'd say that list wasn't too bad.

Off the top of my head, I'd include "Coupling" (original version), "French and Saunders", "Yes Minister" (a brilliant lesson in how government really works), "Red Dwarf", and "My Family".

I'd just like to mention an Australian comedy, "The Games", that I hope they show over here before the run-up to the next Olympics. It was genius - a cross between a mock fly-on-the-wall reality program and "Yes Minister".

I should not say that but my wifes's favorite english show is "Bottom".

If you can imagine a 40 years lawyer woman dead laugh rolling on the floor wtaching at a TV show.

Obviously bear in mind that comedy is subjective and some people may hate what I'm about to recommend!

"League of Gentlemen" - not the move of course.
"The Office" - which you've probably heard of.
"Black Books" - which you probably haven't.
"Spaced" - ditto.

Here's some more:

Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights (genius)

Bo' Selecta (you'll either love this or hate it - I'm immature enough to love it)

People Like Us (not well-known yet very clever)

Peepshow (not available on video yet but I found this very funny)

Little Britain (odd but very funny in parts)

phoenix nights isnt a comedy is it ? i thought it was a real-life documentary ? ?

seen "bottom live" twice now,, fantastic , two 40 something blokes "hitting" each other with frying pans , swearing and being pathetically childish... brilliant.........
-dave-[ who lives in bolton ;) home of phoenix nights]

Mein Gott! 'Allo 'Allo! was not nominated yet. I have enjoyed the DVD version (without the bloody subtitles! Learn from the yanks and insert the bloody titles for the hearing impaired or non-native speakers...)

A show that is based on bad english gains a LOT of momentum when enjoyed without titles and the cushion of native language...

Highly recommended. As is Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. (Well, the first series, anyway).
